Summary

With over 325 NCAA Division I schools, College Hoops 2K7 defines the college basketball experience. True College Atmosphere - The most immersive college game yet, College Hoops 2K7 puts the fans in the game and makes them a part of the team. No "I" in Team - Revamped defensive AI and defensive controls means that better teams come up with the big stops. Leadership Matters - Team chemistry becomes an important factor in the game as teams with strong leadership tend to get the big upsets come tournament time. Improved Legacy Mode - Legacy mode gets a complete upgrade in College Hoops 2K7, with improvements in everything from a new simulation engine and recruiting tools to bracketology, NCAA record books and new broadcast shows like College Hoops Tonight. More Customization - Make your own schools with customized uniforms and uniquely designed arenas. With an even more robust player creation system, you can bring your own NCAA team to life like never before. [2K Sports]

Despite some features that need upgrading, College Hoops 2K7 is still the king of all hoops games, pro or college, on any platform.

Official Xbox Magazine

But at $20 for what is basically last year's quality game on original Xbox or $60 for the irresistible package on the 360 title offers, there's a lot to love on either platform. [Jan. 2007, p.76]

I really enjoyed the create-a-chant option and Team Unity adds to the simulation experience by measuring how the team works together. It has the most solid gameplay system I have ever experienced in a basketball game.

Team Xbox

There’s just barely enough new stuff to warrant a purchase from those who already took the plunge with 2K Sports’ NBA game. The atmosphere of a true-to-life college basketball game comes right through, both the screen and the speakers, perfectly.

GameShark

A significant step up for this series. There are still holes that need to be filled such as the Legacy mode results and some on the floor AI gaffes, but on the whole this is the best college hoops game around and it will take a Herculean effort for EA's March Madness to be able to compete with it.

IGN

The sound is where 2K really excels, especially with the irresistibly evil Chant Creator. Despite the kung-fu lip synching of Gumbel and Kellogg, there is a lot of great info in the College Hoops Tonight that makes for an immersive Legacy.

Worth Playing

Though the game’s depth and detail caters to hardcore hoops fans, game after game, there are few moments that feel inauthentic in College Hoops, which is a difficult point to reach for any sports title.

College Hoops 2K7 is a big improvement over last year, though it's still overshadowed by "NBA 2K7."

Games Radar (in-house)

There's something ludicrously fun about having your home crowd scream "Brown buckets catch stink!" after you nail a three-pointer. We don't know what that really means, and it's probably in very poor taste, but it's funny as hell.

But for fans of college basketball, these faults are drastically outweighed by the deep Legacy mode, solid gameplay, and immersive campus atmosphere College Hoops 2K7 has to offer.

College Hoops 2K7 is a very good college basketball game, but its value is somewhat lessened by the fact that it follows "College Hoops 2K6" by just eight months.

A fine game of college basketball from top to bottom. The feature set in the game is robust and the graphical upgrades help to take advantage of the Xbox 360’s hardware and make this version of the game distinct from the PlayStation 2 version.

Planet Xbox 360

There are only a handful of changes from 2K6. Owners of 2K6 will have little incentive to spend the money to update (notice I didn’t use the word “upgrade”) and might want to think about holding out for 2K8.

GameSpy

The most painful realization will come to owners of "College Hoops 2K6," who will be hard-pressed to find a major improvement in the core game, outside of the roster update. It's hard to justify paying full price for such a similar game.

Buy this game. Not only the best bball game, but probably the best sports game on the market.

Sweet game. Blows March Madness out of the water.

Awesome Game. Recruiting is as in depth as it gets. Gameplay is fast, smooth, and realistic. Graphics look sick in high-def.

Stefan P. gave it a9:
Really fun and you will get into very easily but I don't understand the achievement points system yet.

Matt M. gave it a9:
This game is superb. The sound is flat out amazing.
