Summary
In Crash of the Titans, players fight a nefarious plot hatched by Crash's arch nemeses Neo and Nina Cortex to mutate the local creatures into titanic abominations. Using Crash's legendary mix of outrageous antics and daredevil bravado, players "hijack" enemies to take control of their action and use their fearsome powers against all manner of enemies. "Jack to Attack!" – Control, play and battle as 15 enemies, including titanic creatures such as Scorporilla, Ratcicle, Magamadon and Shellephant. While in control of a monster players can throw toxic stink bombs, call lightning down from the sky, fire lasers beams from their eyes or even impale enemies with a massive scorpion tail - use all of the creatures' special abilities to defeat Neo and Nina Cortex. Crash now has a powerful acrobatic fighting system that includes punches and flying kicks, multiple attacks and special counter moves. Players can power-up skills to unlock new attacks and blazing combos. Crash can now interact with his world in totally new ways. Players can wall-run, swing from ropes and flip off springboards – Crash can even toss Aku Aku on the ground to surf, skate, grind and shred. At any point in the game, a second player can join in the fun and play as Carbon-Crash to help unleash total chaos. In a totally innovative twist to co-op action gaming, Crash can even jack Carbon-Crash (or vice versa) for some hysterical Crash "jacked"-Crash mayhem. [Sierra Entertainment]

Crash of the Titans, in our opinion, sees the Bandicoot returning to his former glory. If you are after a decent platformer to play alone, or with a friend, we doubt you’ll come away from this one disappointed.

You may have been expecting yet another "Crash" afterthought scheming to fleece you of another fiddy, but this is a rebirth well worth the investment. [Nov 2007, p.68]
Cheat Code Central
Despite following the same formula as a lot of adventure titles, Crash of the Titans' new idea of taking over enemies to resolve battles and solve puzzles is quite unique. Throw in a two player co-op mode and you have some nice replay value on your hands.

With its juvenile humor and low difficulty this is probably targeted for kids, but it's a decent holdover until "Super Mario Galaxy" comes along. [Nov 2007, p.142]
Planet Xbox 360
The six hours it will take you to complete the twenty-level contest hardly feels substantial. It is not the slam-dunk comeback fans hoped for from Crash's 360 debut, but it is far from a failure.

Not as sophisticated as many Xbox 360 games out there, Crash of the Titans is, at the end of that day, a scrolling platformer. It doesn't need to be sophisticated - it needs to be fun, frantic, colourful, noisy, winsome and comical, which is exactly what it manages to be.

Mistaken assumptions aside, the Xbox 360 doesn’t exactly have a lot of new, colourful, non-shooty blood and gore type games, so if that’s what you’re shopping for then while you couldn’t do much better, you equally couldn’t do much worse right now.

This may be little more than a last generation game with upgraded visuals, but it does what it’s supposed to, it’s a fun platformer that‘s not too taxing on the brain.
It's a fairly sturdy, combat-heavy platformer with a good hook, but it lacks a real distinct attitude.

It's yet another game in which the mind-numbing clichés of platformers haven't been challenged, but embraced, oh-so-ironically.

Does exactly what it says on the tin, a solid platformer with a few twists and some nice ideas. Could have done with another coat of polish though.

Crash Bandicoot is one of the all-time great platforming characters, not a brawler, so let's keep it that way.

Crash of the Titans is an interesting proposition for platform fans. As a new game in the series, its star loses a bit of shine and character, due to the emergence of titans.

There simply is not enough "Meat" here to cater for older gamers who undoubtedly will breeze through with their eyes half shut, whilst eating, smoking and watching another TV at the same time.

Save for the cooperative mode, there’s not much here worthy of a gamer’s time that is devoted to buying and renting the best games.

It isn’t as impressive as the original games were, but overall Crash seems to be making titanic steps in the right direction.

We were pleasantly surprised by Crash. The ability to take over creatures lifts the standard linear platforming from banality. [Issue 26, p.97]
DarkStation
Taken on its own, Crash of the Titans is not a bad game. It does improve the series with the introduction of new gameplay ideas, but nothing you haven't seen before.

As much as I pick on Crash, I was secretly hoping that Crash of the Titans would put him back in the spotlight. It had an excitingly original concept but failed to take full advantage of its possibilities.

Crash of the Titans makes a solid, if uninspiring, choice for younger fans of the series, but everyone else should head for more enjoyable all-ages fare like "Beautiful Katamari" or even--yes--"Surf's Up". [Holiday 2007, p.82]
Eurogamer
If you thought that Crash's first appearance on the next generation of platforms might enhance its appeal from a technical standpoint, forget it. This is very much a game designed primarily with the PS2 and Wii in mind, with a fairly lazy high-def makeover late in development.

A loose kids' game that could do with some titaning up. [Dec 2007, p.90]
Gamestyle
Overall Crash of the Titans is an average title that will provide some enjoyment to younger gamers just long enough until something better comes out. And let’s be honest here, it’s not like the 360 is brimming with decent platformer titles.

We can say that the co-op multiplayer adds something new to this tired franchise. But there aren’t many different objectives and the Xbox 360 version is a mere port of the PS2. Maybe someday Crash can recover its old glory, but that day hasn’t come yet. [Dec 2007]

crap just crap! Crash used to be so fun but no its just dumb. this game is no fun at all. the only thing it has is graphics. the last good crash game was the one for gamecube, I don't remember its name but it was good. This is not crash!
CMode gave it an8:
Not the best platforming game out there but probably the most under-rated.
Charles R. gave it an8:
Having never played a Crash Bandicoot before, I tried the free demo on Xbox Live. After playing the demo I just had to get this game. Keep in mind something here: I'm 41 years old, not a kid. Although I understand from the few reviews that this is supposed to be a kids game, I have to say that it is a lot of fun. Beautiful graphics. Superb music. Witty dialog. In all: great production value. Haven't finished the game yet, but so far, the difficulty level is just right, not too hard, not too easy. Just plain fun. Levels are just the right length. Good replay value, if only just to get all the "Combos." Whether you are buying this for a —or a kid at heart—I highly recommend this game. Kids will enjoy the colorful environments, wacky characters and well paced action, while adults will chuckle with delight at all the cultural references thrown in. The perfect analogy I can think of is the television series The Simpsons. Enjoy.

Wicked game! Hijacking is tonnes of fun!
Emon X. gave it a9:
This game stands out among the kids games available on 360 as a fun romp with solid achievements, delicious eye candy art, and great monster characters. The co-op play is groovy, with a nice diversity of options like leap frog and back pack caddy. Hopefully the next iteration will have on-line co-op and multi-play as well. Great balance of combat and platforming, and lots of delightful comedic surprises in the dialogue and cinematics! Really like this games version of Nina the best versus previous incarnations. In all, I'd say this is an excellent reboot for the character and franchise, kudos to the Radical team for putting a lot of heart and soul back into the furry protagonist!
