Summary
[Xbox Live Arcade; also known as "Fatal Fury Garou: Mark of the Wolves"] The legend grows as this classic descendant of Fatal Fury arrives on Xbox LIVE Arcade. It's been 10 years since the death of Geese Howard. However, Howard's immense martial arts skills have been passed to his son, Rock. The new hero is joined by a cast of 12 new characters plus one returning fighter, Terry Bogard, for this tournament of champions. Representing the world's best, the maulers gather once again to crown the "King of Fighters." Garou: Mark Of The Wolves improves on the Fatal Fury system by adding three new battle formats, creating fights more furious than before. [SNK Playmore]

Game Revolution
It's hard not to recommend Garou: Mark of the Wolves to just about anyone with interest in fighting games. It's one of the best and more detailed fighters from the past decade, with deep, tough-to-master characters and an overall balanced fighting system that awards skilled, dedicated players.

The fighting is surprisingly fun and insanely deep - this is not a game to be taken lightly. [Issue#49, p.103]
WonderwallWeb
I was a little disappointed that this was a straight conversion of the original, but the inclusion of an online mode made up for this. Gauro: Mark of the Wolves is one for the hard core fans.

Fatal Fury is still a great fighter and the characters are colorful and fun. It’s too bad SNK didn’t give a little more TLC to the visuals, presentation and sound.

It is a solid Japanese arcade fighter, but only for the hardcore fans.

Since Garou: Mark of the Wolves is just 800 Microsoft Points ($10 / £6.80), there’s a good chance that its target audience will find this as a must have and get a lot of time and enjoyment out of the game (especially if you can find consistent online competition). If you aren’t an aficionado, though, Garou won’t do anything to change your opinion.

Sure, it's hardly pretty and the chances are good you've never heard of it, but if you're hankering for a solid fighting game and don't have the wherewithal to import BlazBlue, you could do much worse than this.

If only the title had been given a full HD makeover instead of sticking with its decade-old graphics, more players would've been turned on to this lost gem. [Oct 2009, p.82]
Team Xbox
Even though Garou—Mark of the Wolves looks amazing (when taking into consideration the era in which it was released) and plays even better than it looks, there’ll be this feeling that you didn’t get that much value for your 800 Microsoft Point investment (or about $10).

At the end of the day, Garou Mark of Wolves is an interesting walk down memory lane, however it fails to successfully deliver a truly entertaining experience due to the graphics and limited gameplay.
