Summary

As far as movie based games go, The Incredible Hulk is better than most in recent memory. As far as comic based games go, it's not bad either. Still, when compared to the last Hulk game, it feels like the game's already been done before, and on the last generation of consoles as well.

The word “good” should never be used when describing this game, but “entertaining” definitely fits it. Who doesn’t love smashing stuff? The Hulk does it better than anyone, and it’s captured quite well within this game.

So while Incredible Hulk isn't a bad game, it's actually several steps backward from the last Hulk title. If you are a Hulk fan, this is a definite rental. But if you want the true Hulk experience, stick with Ultimate Destruction.

Worth Playing

Running around as a green, humanoid wrecking ball in New York's sandbox of steel and concrete castles can be fun for a while until it starts feeling like a repetitive exercise in dealing with missions that try and enlist the Hulk as a nanny for stolen gear or have him destroy yet another group of bad guys who don't have the good sense to stay out of his way.

A ton of side missions offer varying entertainment value, plenty of doodads to collect and power Hulk up with, and even a few cool alternate character skins for the green guy to wear. But I can't just quietly ignore the fact that a similar, but far better Hulk game (the best superhero game, for my money) sits on my shelf at home, and is readily available for anyone to track down.

Like so many Hollywood Summer blockbusters: It starts with a cool idea (Hulk destroying stuff) but, from there, grinds to a halt in terms of delivering on its promise. I won't say it's a bad game, because you can get a couple hours of fun out of it running around smashing stuff, but none of it stands out as being exceptional, or even well-done.

Causing mayhem in the city of New York is the only thing that's mildly entertaining in this game, with other content such as mini games and missions being utterly mediocre. Problems with framerates, graphical glitches and a far to short draw distance only cements the impression of this game being a perfect example of how quality and built-to-order games don't go hand in hand.

If every mission is going to take place around the same five blocks, try giving the different areas a bit of character instead of exploding walls. Make bosses that are fun to beat up and not just another thing you throw cars at until they stop moving. Just getting rid of the multitude of minor glitches could have easily raised the score.

Game is a blast to play, fully destructible world is completely addicting. I'm a fan of UD(ultimate destruction) and this is in a very similar vein, some might feel it doesn't improve enough or at all on UD but honestly it takes most of UD's moves and sets them in a more destructible, more interactive sand-box manhattan, which is completely addictive, and with a free dlc of online multiplayer with 6 types of gameplay missions, and leaderboards coming, I'm pretty happy so far. On the other hand the graphics look nice when when lots of stuff is going on, street are busy and quite littered with stuff to destroy, but textures in this game leave little to be desired, at least the framerate is smooth. and you can take or leave the cutscenes, but misssions do vary, minigames are fun and the game is definitly worth the price of admission. It's definitely the best movie based, and superhero based game of this generation.

This is absolutely the cools super hero game ever. Sure it doesn't have all of the moves as Ultimate Destruction, but you can break EVERYTHUNG! There's tons of traffic and pedestrians to make you feel like you are really the Hulk going through a crowded city.

Oh my goodness, this is the coolest super hero game ever. Everything in the city is completely breakable. You really feel like the Hulk. The traffic is awesome, cars panic, run off the road and crash into buildings. Everything can be turned into a weapon. I'm only half way through, but it is fantastic.
