I’m going to make this really simple: this is the greatest basketball game I’ve ever played. This is also the greatest one year leap I’ve ever seen in a series.

Almost everything you would want in a NBA game is here. From single games, to seasons, dynasty mode (Association), 24/7 personal career street ball mode, street games, and even deep online play that includes seasons and tourneys.

Absolutely towering over the likes of NBA Live and all of the other pretenders to the throne, NBA 2k7 is an incredibly solid game that looks, sounds and plays as smoothly as you could ever wish it to – and goodness, its addictive.

It’s a fuller experience than NBA Live 07 is, although gamers looking for a faster-paced and flashier game of basketball will want to stick with EA’s offering.

Easily the greatest basketball game ever made. It will please NBA fans infinitely and it will make non-fans appreciate the sport even more.
It is one of the best sporting simulations ever made and is easily the best basketball game to hit a console.

The dunks are emphatic, the court chatter is cool, the sound of the ball striking the rim is excellent, and the action is fast-paced, realistic, and just a hell of a lot of fun. And thankfully, the rest of the modes are also quite entertaining. The franchise mode, dubbed Association, is deep and rewarding.

NBA 2K7 may not look as good as EA's "NBA Live 07," but the intuitive controls, silky-smooth animation, and fun gameplay makes NBA 2K7 the Xbox 360's basketball game of preference.

With the Signature Style re-creating players’ styles on the game, the immersive Association mode, and the nearly impeccable online play, NBA 2K7 is the sports title to get this basketball season.

The game is damn good. Although there are still issues that need to be addressed, all of those things are overshadowed by the amazing gameplay.

It is once again the most solid, realistic, and kick-butt hoops game on the market. Really, the only debate is which version to get. If money's no object, pick it up on 360; it's easily the cream of the crop.

An excellent game, and 2K Sports looks to be on the right track improving and adding to the franchise each year. A great example of this can be seen every time you go to the hoop - chances are you won’t see the same dunk twice.

NBA 2K7 is now the undisputed best pro hoops game on the market! "NBA Live" wasn’t even close this year.
Both EA and 2KGames have produced fine simulators but in terms or sheer gameplay and polish we think the crown this year firmly belongs to NBA2K7.

Seasoned veterans will greatly appreciate the authentic presentation and dynamic control system, with the ability to perform nearly any conceivable move, from your various hop steps to your head fakes to your stutter steps.

This is the basketball game to own this season...Only a few hiccups here and there stop this game from being perfect. The level of realism in the animations is astounding, but you can still have a fast-paced and fun basketball game.

It looks great, sounds great, and plays great, and you can’t ask for much more than that. 2K7 Sports continues to impress.

In the end, NBA 2K7’s biggest accolade is a result of its triumph in communicating a passion and love for one sport so completely.
With a plethora of deep features, an incredible online mode and some of the most immersive animations and graphics ever, 2K7 far outshines the competition.

On 360, you'll get a basketball simulation that, while a bit short on extras(sorry, but 24/7 Mode just can't compare to "NBA Live's" slick All-Star Weekend package), tickles the twine where it counts: on the court. [Dec. 2006, p.87]
GameZone
Player-specific moves are astonishing and Isomotion work quite well. The shot stick, free throw mechanics, and team AI needs work though.
If you like basketball, you can't help but enjoy NBA 2K7. Moving forward, 2K needs to make player faces look like human beings, improve some suspect clock AI on the part of the CPU, and work on making on-the-ball defense fun. Still, this is a damn good basketball game and your best option on the 360 this season.
Despite a few frustrations, this is a fantastic basketball game with enough variety to keep each game fresh and enough replay value to keep it in the rotation for many months to come.
The joke with basketball is that you only have to tune in and watch during the last five minutes in order to see who wins. Seeing how there's a lot that's similiar between this year and last year's games, you could do that, but then you'd miss some of the small differencies in place. [Nov. 2006, p.137]
Game Revolution
The load of modes and options will keep you easily entertained until next season, and the new animations and context-sensitive controls add a never-before-seen layer of realism, even if you have seen everything else before.
What NBA 2K7 boils down to is entirely based upon the player's desire for realism. For those dying to see the authentic animations in a basketball title on the Xbox 360, 2K7 will suffice.

If you're after a basketball game for the Santa stocking though, NBA 2K7 is by far the best choice this year.
Sure, there are oodles of new animations and gameplay options, but many key issues went untouched. It's still a great choice for anyone who likes a realistic pace to their NBA video games, but it's not the defining basketball simulation that many were hoping for.

This is clearly the premier basketball game of the year. In fact, when you match up NBA 2K7 bucket for bucket with "Live 07," it's a slaughter. We're talking a 120-48 type of lopsidedness.
Read Full Review >Electronic Gaming Monthly
The game plays substantially better than last year's 360 debut, with a greater sense of rebounds and loose balls being tipped around and more control on defense. [Nov. 2006, p.119]
GameSpy
An excellent basketball game, with more features than you can exhaust in months of play.

The heart and soul of NBA 2K7 lies in the NBA buildings across the country and the hands of the best players in the world. This year, there's no finer hoops experience to be had on the 360.

We thought we'd seen all there was to see wtih the NBA licensed games, but 2K7 has taken us by surprise. [Issue 14, p.85]
Eurogamer
But if this is the sport you're dedicated to, Visual Concepts has made the game entirely for your pleasure. And it's not very often you can credit a game with giving you a year's worth of play. Go get it.

Although not a huge amount has been changed from NBA 2K6, when a game is this good it's hard to care, especially when almost everything added works so well.

Lone players could spend months in the Association mode, and the online options are excellent for players wanting some human-on-human play.

Is it enough to warrant a purchase should you own 2K7’s predecessor? Probably not. However...NBA 2K7 is still the number one name in basketball. [Dec 2006, p.112]

Simply a great basketball game, providing an authentic experience that pulls confidently ahead of the current Xbox 360 selection.

As beautiful to watch as it is to play, 2K7 is pretty much a benchmark for next-gen sports games. [Issue 17, p.70]
Planet Xbox 360
This year’s installment however will not disappoint as 2K Sports have made numerous adjustments and added several features that makes this installment a true contender in this year’s NBA title bout.

If you've been a fan of 2K's NBA series this won't be a disapointment. Don't expect much more then a good game of basketball though.

The players move nicely, and their personal touches are great, including Rip Hamilton's free throw ritual to Shawn Marion's unique jump shot.

NBA 2K7 doesn't have the looks, but its solid on-court action puts you at the heart of the match rather than on the sidelines, with quick-fire tactics that you'd expect to see on ESPN. [Dec 2006, p.88]
Gamestyle
NBA 2K7 is your typical update. It may not revolutionise anything, but the improved graphics and online mode are enough to win over fans of the series.

Bob M. gave it a9:
Near perfect game. Well deserved 9. Great graphics, best controls for a basketball game possible. Good bye nba live. Your time is over.
Allen I. gave it an8:
Yo dawg i thought this game was pretty good but the referees make too many bad calls and the players throw bad passes. online is good though.
Mat M. gave it a10:
This is simply the best basketball game I have ever played in my 10 years of gaming.
I love Nba 2k7 gave it a10:
This game is the best game in the world. I can play this game over and over and over again. Live is so fun to play on. This game has the best graphics in the world I love it. This game is definitely worth buying!
Bee B. gave it an8:
This game is serious stuff! Best gameplay for a sports game that I have ever been privileged to play on. New animations are good but could be better, but the main thing is it it kicks NBA Live 07's a** like Shaq would kick Kobe's!
Gingerman gave it a10:
This is amazing. Must have 360 game, no matter if you like basketball or not...this is art.
[Anonymous] gave it a9:
The best basketball game of all time and I have pretty much played them all since EAs Bulls vs Blazers on the Sega Megadrive (Genesis). The only things that annoyed me and hence prevented me giving this game a 10, is the crappy menu interface, the ends of players shorts sometimes getting caught in their waist, too many steals and too few blocks. The gameplay is so good though that these minor annoyances don't prevent it from being the best b'ball game out there. If you're looking for an NBA game, get this and avoid NBA Live 07 on XBOX 360 at all costs!
