The Onion (A.V. Club)
A dazzling array of showmanship, visual glitz, and a hefty dose of fun make this an absolute must-play.

Swish it from way downtown or slam it home with a physics-defying, high-flying double or even triple dunk. Whatever way you score it, NBA Street Homecourt is the best streetball game around, bringing a whole new level of energy and exciting gameplay to the NBA Street franchise.

Controls are easy to learn, players look great, and the soundtrack is outstanding.

The awesome new Gamebreaker system, revised trick system and incredible graphics make for what is arguably EA’s best next-gen sports title yet.

This game bursts with one brilliant design decision after another - including a Gamebreaker power-up system that is, finally, perfect. [Mar 2007, p.86]
PGNx Media
For the next iteration, we want the option to turn off the sepia tone and more gameplay modes, but the gameplay itself is nearly perfect.

A great basketball game, offering up fluid controls, great graphics, and some truly awe-inspiring dunks. A great continuation of the franchise.

Visuals aside, what makes or breaks a game like Street is the gameplay, and No. 4 in the series totally delivers.

In all, it's an incredibly balanced system that has been honed across four games, making NBA Street Homecourt one of the most fair, and enjoyable, roundball games on the market.

An excellent arcade-sports title that knows no equal on next-gen consoles. It's more user-friendly than ever, has a killer single-player mode, and its online play will only make you keep it cemented into your Xbox 360 that much longer.

Homecourt has the flashy moves of a superstar but it needs to work on its fundamentals. Maybe then it'll elevate its game to true legend status.

The sound in Homecourt is spectacular. From the excellent narration of the players’ tales to the on-the-court trash talk, the sound is awesome.

While all these features give Homecourt the depth it needs, the real revelation here is something that's hard to describe in words: it just feels right. [Mar 2007, p.99]

The Trick Remixer and new Gamebreaker system will have you jumping out of your gaming chair...IGN officially gives NBA Street Homecourt "mad props."

The development team has added tons of excellent new features, from the new trick system to the improved Gamebreaker mechanic, without taking away any of the stuff that made the previous titles so great.

Overall this is a great game for fun with the buddies. Trying to out trick, out dunk, out dribble will definitely appeal to you. This is a fun game to play and is not for the serious sports enthusiast.

Highly honed, it beautifully perfects the elements that the first three games almost nailed without reaching for the next great thing the way a truly classic game does. [Mar 2007, p.76]
GamerNode
A well above average game of arcade basketball, hampered a bit by sub-par online and a lack of customization options. A solid purchase despite its flaws.

It is by far the best of the series thus far and is a great building block for future versions. Just bear in mind that the multiplayer experience gives this game a much higher score than the single player, so if you don’t plan on playing online or with friends, you may want to just check this out.

Building up your character and playing the various challenges can be fun. There are plenty of game modes and online play to keep you busy. Some of the animations can be repetitive and the AI can frustrate you sometimes.

The game is a feast for the senses with great graphics and fantastic audio although replay value is reduced by the fact that you are doing virtually the exact same thing game in and game out, regardless of game play mode.

Homecourt gets old after a while since it lacks the options found in the more robust "NBA 2K7," but players will delight in its light hearted take on basketball. Its theatrics, coupled with its gorgeous visuals, make it a fine addition to everyone's collection.

A scientifically fluid refinement of upgraded graphical sheen (PS3 has a slight edge over 360) and unprecedented stylish madness that will harvest some of your most enthusiastic hollers.

Where development did put in the time was in coming up with a logical and intuitive new controller scheme that lets you showcase all the moves that Street vets expect from the game.
Homecourt is easier than ever to pick up and play, and almost all of the new moves and dunks are fantastic, but thanks to a shallow career mode and a limited number of other gameplay modes, there aren't enough ways to enjoy it.

Homecourt may bear only a passing resemblance to real basketball, but it is tremendous fun, even if you never have to the pass the game controller behind your back or toss it in the air.

NBA Street Homecourt is cake without the frosting, or for those who hate cake, "Baywatch" without Pam Anderson.

Minor gripes aside, Homecourt is a deliciously addictive baller and a commendable next-gen Street effort on EA's part.

With superb animations, a unique color filter for each court, and excellent player models, the game is real easy on the eyes.

It has the strong backbone of a great arcade-style basketball game, which is only strengthened by innovative and tactical touches such as the gamebreaker meter, tricks combos, double dunks, and other neat touches.

Homecourt looks, sounds and plays greatly, but it seems they lost the essence of what made V3 so phenomenal.
Read Full Review >Detroit Free Press
In Homecourt, the high-flying super dunks, crazy-killer crossovers and behind-the-back, no-look and kick passes are exaggerated to new heights. And here lies one of the game's biggest pluses.

A brief, nostalgic, slick and endlessly stylish trip down the memory lanes of the NBA’s greats, but not quite the bona fide hoop dream. [May 2007, p.116]
360 Gamer Magazine UK
There's not been a huge gameplay jump snice we last saw NBA Street, but it's certainly wearing far fancier clothes. [Issue 24, p.65]
AceGamez
NBA Street: Homecourt isn't quite the show stopper I thought it would be, but it's hardly a disappointment either.
Punchy and immaculately produced, NBA Street Homecourt is a great jumping-on point for a simple, entertaining and really well-designed series.
Read Full Review >X360 Magazine UK
Lacking in variety and depressingly fixed, Homecourt never develops into anything more than a multiplayer-only option. Once you've seen every gravity-defying leap, the fun is largely over. [Issue 18, p.92]
Official Xbox Magazine UK
It's a great game in short spurts, but isn't good enough to play in the big leagues. [Apr 2007, p.95]
Game Revolution
The gameplay becomes repetitive quickly and the campaign is over without much fuss. In the end, this fast-paced game falls victim to its own velocity.
Graphically stunning and sonically amazing, the gameplay lets it down for me. In multiplayer, there is fun to be had, but the single player challenge is a long, hard slog that is pitted with dodgy AI and too many anomalies.

Lionel E. gave it a7:
If you love the NBA, this isn't the game for you. It's more Harlem Globetrotters on amphetamines; in other words, it's a part of a continued progression to divorce sports video games from the sports themselves. But it does play fairly well and has style, so if you want to see what it would be like if Jason Kidd could dunk, or if basketball rules were more like weak guidelines, you might find it worthwhile, if short.
Simon G. gave it a10:
omg omg, ive just got this game, why dont ask me i hate basketball.. well i thought id try this one anyway, and i am in shock, ive never owned a basketball game in my life, but ill tell you now this one isnt leaving my games collection.. im just amazed with how well it plays and the tricks in it are just mouth watering, my 11 year old son couldnt get of it. i was just lucky it was his bedtime.. ive just paused for a minute to write this too let you people know it is a must for your collection, whether u like basketball or not because believe me once u put it on u wont be turning of for the day.. go get it now ur missing out on a great game 10/10 all the way
Sean M. gave it a9:
Fun game to play with your friends. Story becomes a bit repetitive, but just change the difficulty and you got a whole new game. Overall I recommend it.
BILL G. gave it a10:
I picked this game up for Xbox about a week ago and can't begin to express how impressed I am with it. My friends and I have been playing it like mad and all agree it is probably the most FUN we've had with a sports game EVER. I think this one will be a staple in my collection for years to come, like Madden 04. I highly recommend this game to everyone and anyone who is even thinking about picking it up - you will not be disappointed.
David H. gave it a6:
Found this to be mostly over hyped. Animations are great, but the control design is rather shallow and whoever designed this one didn't think about making it fun for more than 10 minutes.
D Zehr gave it a10:
I am not a basketball fan and don't like sports games all that much but after the demo I decided to give the game a shot...well was I shocked in how nice the game play is amazing and the graphics are almost a nice edgey look not what I was expecting and the feel and replay value is right up there with the likes of vegas, graw, and burnout overall I recommend this game to everyone.
ACE5 gave it a7:
I don't know... Maybe I'm just tired of street basketball, or maybe I'm just tired of EA's games. Street starts out being exciting and different. But in a short time it just gets boring. I liked the first few street games and played them to death. But this one just feels like I played it all too much!
