Peggle is a drug. But a good one. And with no special "after effects." [June 2009, p.94]
ZTGameDomain
It is a game that requires you to think, use different angles and timing to complete the game. It is a game that makes you sit back and rethink those strategies. But most importantly, it is a game that is extremely fun and addictive.

While I was hoping the 360 version would add something entirely new (not counting the Peg Party), I highly recommend Peggle. It’s a casual game that appeals to everyone. For only 800 Microsoft points ($10 USD), you will definitely get your money’s worth.

Simply put, this is a once-in-a-generation puzzler, much like Tetris. It’s Xbox Live Arcade’s finest offering, and it can be both mindless and high-level strategic fun. Don’t miss it. Find an internet connection and create an Xbox Live Silver account if you have to; it’s that sublime.

Peggle is without a doubt my favourite title on the Xbox LIVE Arcade. From the addictive gameplay to the many challenges on offer, and with more promise, this game is a must for any Xbox 360 owner and at 800 Microsoft Points, there really is no excuse.

There are many reasons why Peggle is a must own but the best has to be the sheer number of hours you will put in playing this. PopCap knows how to make some insane crazy addicting games and to be sure this is their best.

The game is incredibly colorful with a great mix of animation and sound to satisfy players of all ages—it’s not dumbed down for kids and it’s not loaded up with sophisticated gameplay concepts that only adults can take in. Most of all, though, it’s the combination of simple gameplay, challenging action and cartoon-like graphics that makes it highly appealing.

Peggle is one of the most fun and addictive titles to hit XBLA in a while. Well worth the 800 MS points it will cost you.

Peggle is a game that everyone should play, even if you've already done so on multiple other platforms.

Overall, the Xbox 360 edition of Peggle has turned out to be the most feature-packed version of the game yet.

Peggle definitely makes the transition over to Xbox Live Arcade very well with the main game’s set of modes and two new multiplayer modes that makes it an easy 800 points, or $10, purchase if you enjoy the demo.

The deliciously addicting game shines on XBLA for a meager 800 Microsoft points. The little touches -- the loading bar phrases and the visuals -- lend credence to Peggle’s relevance on Microsoft’s downloadable service.

Peggle is unique among puzzle games though, in that despite never being particularly challenging, it’s still great fun to play and is the very definition of that ‘just one more go’ feeling that some games evoke. A very pure, fun experience that appeals to gamers of all ages, and a great example of simple, but effective, gameplay. Top draw.

Peggle is a colourful, highly addictive puzzle style game that the whole family will absolutely love. The online multiplayer modes make it that much better, and it's a worthy investment for anyone who wants something a bit simpler to wind down with.

Peggle is a rare, but clear example of a game that utilises a simple concept to create a limitlessly satisfying gameplay experience. There are no end of level bosses, ostentatious cut scenes or superfluous button layouts to memorise, Peggle is simply gameplay refined.

While it's a shame that the Xbox 360 experience doesn't do more to move the established template forwards on the multiplayer front, it would also be fairly nit-picky to allow such concerns to detract from the fact that Peggle was, and still is, a wonderful, maddeningly moreish gem of fuss-free game design. Every home should have one.

Its simple aim-and-shoot mechanics draws you in for repeated plays and with the short completion times needed to complete levels, you can easily fall prey to ‘Just One More’ Syndrome.

It's hugely addictive, enormously satisfying and will only set you back 800 points. What are you waiting for? [May 2009, p.96]
Totally360
Quite simply put, this is probably the best way to spend 800 points on the Marketplace so far this year, and a game that offers a great deal of simple harmless gameplay with an addictive bite that’ll see you neglecting other more deep and meaningful gaming experiences for a bit of guilty casual gaming pleasure.

No matter what the reason is, Peggle is absolutely worth the $10 price tag.

Peggle is no doubt one of the more addictive games available on the Xbox LIVE arcade.

If you're not a hardcore PC super-score hunter, the controls are fine (and you're competing in a walled garden with other 360 gamers anyway) and the addition of an excellent online mode only adds to the already comprehensive depth of content on offer.

Online play: what an addition. Duel mode is the same as it ever was, only now with added strangers.

It's the instant gratification of fireworks and classical music that comes with victories so addictive that you see entire evenings wasted on a game in which you seemingly do nothing at all. [May 2009, p.124]
X360 Magazine UK
It's just a shame you'll lose all interest in friends or sleep when in Peggle's inescapable grasp. [Issue#45, p.101]
Gamer.nl
Peggle is a well thought of puzzle concept. A transition to Xbox Live Arcade doesn't change that. If you haven't had the pleasure to play a Peggle game, now is your chance to try it out for a very nice price. But if you're already the proud owner of the PC version, use those points on something else.

All criticism aside, this is a title that winds away the hours and, for the most part, is a joy to play. What I first considered to be a silly, childish story turned out to be a true portrayal of what most players will go through learning the ways of Peggle, in that you have to be patient, disciplined and sometimes lucky, too.

It would have been nice to stretch the brain-box a bit with crazier modes or challenges, and the inclusion of a level editor certainly wouldn't have hurt, but at 10 dollars, Peggle is a welcome addition to my procrastination repertoire.

Michael gave it a9:
Although i would never let my mates see me on a game called 'peggle' i have to since it has been the best £8 I've spent in months. It is devilishly simple but similarly addictive in the way that you will go on at 1pm and get off at 5pm expecting it to be 3pm! The 'guides' and menu layout are slightly over childish but apart from that, the childish nature of the game unnoticeable whilst your playing. WARNING do not get this game if you have important exams! It will be responsible for you working in Macdonalds when your older.
Jeremy N gave it an8:
Peggle is down-right addictive. There are a few good games worth your purchase on xbox live and this is certainly one of them. The first time I downloaded this game I started playing and...opps its 4 in the morning! I thought that the appeal would not last long but it does. After pulling you in, you will eventually call it quits and need a peggle detox (unless you like dreaming in Peggle). But sooner or later you'll once again hear the call to test your luck against others who have risen to the challege. Ain't no party like a peggle party!
Jake gave it a7:
Like most great puzzle games, Peggl is based on a simple mechanic. This time around it's Plinko. The graphics and humorous touches go above and beyond your standard live arcade puzzler, and I spent about 4 hours playing through it the first night I got it. I don't see myself playing it for much more than 3 days or so. I decided to play the challenge mode where you play against normal level opponents. I can honestly say this was the worst mistake of my life. They make insane bank shots that will infuriate you and make you want to throw your controller.
Toby O gave it an8:
Much better than it has a right to be. I don't like Bust a Groove or similar seemingly strategy-void puzzlers, but Peggle is impossible not to like. The physics, sound design, and writing -- things usually all but ignored in this genre -- excel to a point that you're hooked on the ball-dropping action.
Anthony V gave it a10:
I can forgive some of the lame cartoon characters that serve as the guides in this game - they become so arbitrary in comparison to the whole package. And what a package Peggle is. The pachinko-on-drugs concept is simple. The execution is fantastic. It was a ton of fun on the iPod, and on a powerhouse like the XBox 360, the bells and whistles make this game even better. PopCap has become masters at making what videogames should be - fun, addictive, and dare I say it - classic.
Fred J. gave it a6:
The premise is quite simple and the game is great fun, if only for a short while. Few will find this title capable of holding their attention in the long run as this game is taylored made for short sessions and casual players. Though for $10, this isn't a bad distraction.
