Summary
Enter Pimp City, where bling is king, and style is everything. On these streets, if your car isn't fully pimped out, you'd be better off walking. You and Xzibit will take on the challenge of hooking up your homies, and transforming their hoopties, buckets and beaters into the hottest whips on the street, while redlining through the highways and alleyways of Pimp City. You choose the mods, you choose the route, but pimpin' ain't easy. It will take speed and style to hook them up. Do you have what it takes to Pimp Their Ride? Xzibit will guide you through every stage of the pimping process - true Xzibit hilarity with lines and voice recording from Xzibit himself. Authentic people, broken rides - each mission will feature a person who truly needs their ride (and their life) pimped. Outrageous car modifications not for your typical car. Intense redline street racing through the city's 'hoods to create the most pimped out ride. New School meets Old School - an MTV generation focus in delivery of art, music and sound, featuring Zxibit's latest hip-hop tracks, and retro whips in need of modern bling. 5 unique boroughs , all free roam envorinments for the ultimate combination of racing and pimping. 16 vehicles in all - one for each of the 15 "customers" plus Xzibit's own high-rolling feature ride. Over 15 suppliers per borough and 100s of parts, from tires and rims to bumpin' subwofer systems and high-def display panels. So many parts, so many combinations, so much replayability. [Activision]

Whereas the show, Pimp My Ride, may be fun, the game is not. It gets close in the presentation but it fails miserably where it counts, in the gameplay.

When running properly, Pimp my Ride is fun if you’re into the show, but it will do little for the gearheads who are looking for something a little different in the racing genre. Snatch this one up if you’re really into the TV show, Xzibit, or outlandishly customizing cars.

Drive, crash, mini-game, repeat. Pimp My Ride is a licensed game for die-hard fans.

When all is said and done Pimp My Ride feels like a budget title; a PS2 budget title at that and that is disappointing.

No amount of Xzibit influence or ride pimpage can save Pimp My Ride from its god-awful minigames and lousy driving mechanics.

It’s a grind that’s just not much fun to play, no matter how much ghost riding the whip takes place. Pimp My Ride falls a few rims shorts of a set.

Pimp My Ride has that budget-game smell, with its lack of any Xbox Live support and flimsy content.

I honestly have to say that I had fun with this game just because the gameplay is so outrageously bad.

If mind-numbingly easy repetition is what you enjoy in a game, knock yourself out.

Not the worst game on 360 but it's not far off. Tedious, short and not much fun, if you want to pimp rides, we reckon you're better off sticking with "Need for Speed." [Issue # 16, p.94]
Official Xbox Magazine
Some subjects will just never translate well into videogames--like anything related to proctology, Paris Hilton, or, yes, MTV shows. [Feb. 2007, p.79]
Official Xbox Magazine UK
It looks like it's been lazily ported from the PlayStation 2 because, frankly, it has. [July 2007, p.103]
IGN
While the cutscenes do a nice job of capturing the energy of the Pimp My Ride TV show, the game design kills any chance this game had at being fun.

It's pretty clear that Pimp My Ride is not aimed at us. And by "us" I mean "people who have at least a basic understanding of what makes a good game". It's the equivalent of a movie like Norbit or a TV show like...well, like Pimp My Ride.

Darren D. gave it a1:
Rent this game and see that the above score may even be too high.It was like a PS2 game gone wrong with terrible gameplay and missions.
Gordon F. gave it a10:
Amazingly written and beautifully constructed, it's a complete emotional rollercoaster which we can't drawn any parallels with...You'll be playing this game for months to come, exchanging story elements to build up the bigger picture, and arguing about what it all means. ignore the haters Pimpy My Ride is a definite buy.
Stewart M. gave it a10:
The game rocks! I had so much fun playing it. The ride pimpage was out of this world. It was like eating pancakes. Then again this game is lousy. It's like eating frozen pancakes without any suroup. P.S I'm sorry If I spelled suroup wrong. {or did I}
Andyman gave it a0:
More like Pimp My TV Franchise... and kids, we all know that's never a good thing. Don't even THINK of renting this, much less buying it.
Xzibit Sucks gave it a0:
As pointless as the T.V. show, you do the same thing for a good 20 hours. Save your money for a decent game.
Joe B. gave it a10:
Ok, I may be the only one but I had a blast playing this game!
