I absolutely loved Pure, and while I've played a fair share of decent off road racers in the past couple years, nothing compares to Pure in my opinion.

The value here is high because there are a huge number of single player World Tour races, single player single races and multiplayer racing which will appeal to everyone. Building your own ATV is also very sweet since you can customize the hell out of it.

I can’t recommend Pure highly enough. This is without a doubt one of the best racers I’ve played all year, if not the best.
Read Full Review >Xbox World Australia
There aren't many racing games that kept me interested long enough to aim for first in every event but PURE was one of them and comes highly recommended.

Gameplay depth comes from mastering the basic skills..., but none of this is overcomplicated: Pure delivers that prized "pick up and play" experience with several shots of adrenaline. [Oct 2008, p.72]

It looks gorgeous, it has an addictive ‘one more turn’ feel to it, and it has a truly awesome soundtrack packed full of some seriously phat beats. At the end of the day, Pure is a shinning example of an arcade experience done right and it delivers on this with big air, big thrills, and a whole lotta dirt.

It’s hard to imagine a gamer not getting at least a few jollies form zipping around in Pure; and I don’t mean just racing genre gamers. That’s ‘E’ for Everyone– just like Pure’s ESRB rating. Moto-heads and racing nuts should be all over this one, as should fans of all games extreme in nature.

The throttling gameplay, gorgeous presentation and sweet multiplayer options make it a ride you cannot miss.

Pure is sheer unadulterated fun. The game offers breathtaking graphics and addictive gameplay, combined with a decent set of single and multiplayer modes.

Pure offers a massive amount of content for the money, and the online multiplayer, which features up to sixteen players, is as intense as any other racing game’s this generation. I cannot recommend Pure highly enough.

It's a simple, straightforward game: go fast and pull out your best tricks. Fortunately, there's depth to be had if you're eager to invest the effort.

We defy you not to enjoy Pure. In an age where simulation reigns supreme, Pure's over the top arcade fun is a refreshing change of pace. Somehow Black Rock has managed to make a game that is infectious, spreading the joy to all who touch it, even to onlookers who gather around the TV in awe at the incredible visuals.

The style is superb, and the gameplay flows right along with it to make Pure one of the few “must have” racing games in recent time.

Pure doesn’t set any standards in the department of innovation, but it does take everything fun about the genre and cram it into a tight package.

Pure is an adrenaline shot in a box, a quick paced action packed racer with streamlined gameplay and excellent production values.

If you can deal with some minor shortcomings, Pure delivers exactly what the title promises: pure gameplay. Almost all aspects of the racing, tricking, physics and ATV creation come together seamlessly and the result is a rock-solid racer that aims to please and thrill in the same sweep.

From the great looking graphics, solid sound, to the easy to pick up and play but practice makes perfect controls; one really can’t go wrong with this racer.

Pure exploded into the limelight by stealing the Best Driving Game award at E3 this year, and only weeks later it’s on the shelf. And, you know what? It’s an awful lot of fun.

Pure is, without a doubt, the most unique racer to release in the second half of 2008. Forget driving cars and trucks; pick up Pure and kick up mud with your own custom ATV. There aren’t any better options when it comes to off-road racing on the Xbox 360.

When it comes down to it, Pure is fun. It's simple, it's effective, and it perfectly captures that "just one more race" factor.

Overall, I highly recommend Pure. It’s a pile of fun online against some friends.

A stunning extreme sports title that nicely fills the void left by EA Big. [Dec 2008, p.80]
IGN
Pure delivers an outrageous, arcadey off-road racing experience with style and slickness. The controls are intuitive, the tracks are pure eye candy and the tricks are so crazy and over-the-top that you’ll find yourself gasping with glee when you land your first Lazy Girl.

A very impressive racer that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start line to finish.

This is a great example of what can be achieved if fun is the primary aim. Massive tricks, amazing scenery, hugely modifiable bikes - what more do you want?

Pure is somewhat reminiscent of the old PC classic Motocross Madness, which was another highly addictive game. It doesn’t have the open-ended stunt practice, but everything else about the formula has been improved in almost every way.

Pure delivers on the promise of fast thrills and fun, so the very few minor issues seem non-existent. A definite recommendation for fans of both racing and arcade-style games.

There isn’t much I can find fault with in this game. It’s certainly one of the best racing games out there and possibly the best in its little subgenre as well.
The graphics, audio and customization are excellent, and although the World Tour mode is unoriginal, it's also unabashedly fun.
Pure is an enjoyable racing game even when an attempt to squeeze in one more stunt results in a pin-wheeling ragdoll rider and dropping a couple of positions. The visceral appeal of driving really fast and performing all manner of impossible gyrations is strong enough to make Pure a gotta play title.

Pure is one of the most appealing arcade games of the last years. It's uncompromising, full of energy and with high production values.
Pure is a fantastic off road racer and a brilliant arcade title. It's rough, it's filthy and the races are never clean, but we love it anyway.

Watching 16 quads fly jump over a massive ramp, with each driver using different tricks, is amazing to watch. It's just a shame that a lot of the online players seem to be a lot better than me. Better keep practicing I guess.
Pure is the new kid on the block, and if given a sequel or two to improve, it could grow into a brilliant beast of a man.
Thrilling on the ground, downright heart-stopping in the air, and beautiful throughout, Pure's a blast from start to finish. A career mode would've gone further than the game's "World Tour" in fully eliminating repetitiveness, but Black Rock has otherwise built a real winner here.
As the name would imply, Pure wins because it sticks with only the most important facets of ATV racing: crazy handling and absurd, gravity-defying stunts. Its stellar visuals (exemplified by the glittering glacier track set in New Zealand) are simply icing on a cake of solid gameplay that rarely falters in providing the basic racing game essentials.

Pure is probably the best Off-Road racing videogame in years. All the fun and the joy of riding a quad can be found here, and the pack comes with a great arcade style, astonishing environments and accessible and spectacular driving.

Pure takes racing all the way back to basics and emphasizes fun over complexity yet still incorporates enough depth to have some serious longevity. Excellent stuff. [Issue#37, p.86]

Whereas Turok struggled in the murkiness of blandness and unoriginality, PURE offers a mud-slipping, cliff-jumping thrill ride that has come out of nowhere.

Pure puts the arcade back in arcade racer. Simple and fun are the two keywords that describe Pure. Even though the lack of depth won't let you play for long, the game is easy to pick up. And that's what it's about in a game like Pure.
As a starting point for a successful brand, though, Black Rock has totally nailed it, and this represents a hugely promising effort. Stomach churning insanity doesn't get any better right now.
Read Full Review >360 Gamer Magazine UK
A brilliantly fun racer that feels more like a rollercoaster ride. An excellent mix of speed and tricks, along with some wonderful tracks, great scenery and cool music all brought together with rock solid controls, makes Pure a thoroughly entertaining racing experience.
Giant Bomb
Pure looks great and runs fast. You'll get a good sense of speed on the ground and you'll get to see enough of the surrounding environment to make those huge jumps look positively majestic. The rider animations are perhaps a bit stiff, and the crashes are cut so short that they start to look a little weird, but overall, it looks terrific.

Even after getting all the initial enjoyment out of the game, Pure is still definitely fun to pick up for short, satisfying bursts of speed.

A perfectly polished and presented package. It offers extreme-tricking and adrenaline-fuelled racing and does it in a refreshing and challenging way.
Arcade racing game with ATVs as the starring roles. Clean, soft and detailed graphics with a nice taste in stage and acrobatics design. The ability to play online along with 15 more people is its strongest point, though the core mechanic of the game itself proves to addictive on its own, being entertaining and spectacular as few others. Should it have more variety in vehicles to play with, it could even stand up to Motorstorm 2.

While there are slight drawbacks preventing Pure from being an absolute winner it is nevertheless a well executed racer and another excellent addition to the off-road racer genre from the Black Rock team.

Pure doesn't blaze many new trails, but this off-road racer still delivers an intense, tricked-out thrill ride.

Tight, fun and fast-paced racing action that just about anyone can enjoy. [Nov 2008, p.89]
Kikizo
At worst, this is one of the best rental options this year. It doesn't have the depth or longevity of the big simulation racers but for sheer hair-raising off road action, a new franchise is born.
The astounding visuals and deeper deviations from a simple arcade game keep Pure fresh, and while it isn’t perfect, it'll certainly take you for an exhilarating ride.

There are other, deeper, and ultimately more satisfying racing games out there. But for a pure, pick-up-and-play sense of speed and fun, Pure is hard to beat.

Pau R gave it a9:
Really adictive, simple to grab to play, but very difficult to master all the circuits due to multiple ways and modes. Tons of fun :)
Bobby Fisher gave it a5:
The only really positive thing I can say about this game is the in air stunts. Aside from that, this game is terrible. Once you complete the game and rank number 1 out of 100, the game just ends. Online play is bad too. I purchased this game and sold it a week later in blockbuster at a 30% loss.. It's a great rental but a useless purchase.
Sjaak B gave it a6:
This game isn't for me. Physics are too simple and I don't get any feel of speed in this game. If you're terrible bad at race games then this is the game for you. If you're looking for a good arcade racer: try flatout
Eric Stoker gave it a10:
One of the best racers I've played since Mario Kart 64. Addictive. Fun. Insane!! A must have for any racing fan.
Apocalypse Brown gave it a7:
Never really played SSX but was looking forward to playing this after the demo, but is it a good game? The answer is it depends on what your after, if it's pure fun with thrills and shiny whistles then this is for you. If your a serious racer looking for depth and a challenge, then stay clear. I fall into the latter category, so after two weeks I was bored stiff. Online is brilliant though, as 16 players tricking and flying dangerously over cliffs is a rush, however there is no depth in gameplay what so ever. What you get on the first play is exactly what you'll get on the last play. So either you like a fun shallow game, or you don't! Your choice.....
Zun G. gave it a1:
Completely uninspired. Good background rendering but that's about it. It isn't a game you'll come back to again and again...perhaps not even a second time.
I P. gave it a9:
Very addictive one player game and fantasic online. A cross between Motorstorm, Burnout and SSX. If you loved any of those games, you'll love this!!!!
