GameSpot
This is a great, cheap way to get your hands on an underappreciated arcade classic.

For a budget (400 Microsoft points) Xbox Live Arcade title, Root Beer Tapper holds up well; if for no other reason than the amount of replay needed to grab fifty wins over Live.

The co-op game is rather simplistic: it hardly feels like you're playing with anyone at all, but there are a few Achievements built into it, so at least there is that challenge.

At only 400 MS points, it’s a great buy if you’re looking for a pick-up-and-play time killer while you wait for those gigantic files to download on Live Marketplace.

This is a great, inexpensive game if you’re a fan, but it won’t hold much lasting appeal to most people for very long. Personally I need to have many drinks in me to enjoy playing Tapper for more than 10 minutes at a time. Not root beer, but real beer.

Give it five minutes and Root Beer Tapper can lead to hours of enjoyment. [Issue #23, p.72]
Official Xbox Magazine
Two-player action(over Live, even)is a nice modern addition, but odds are, you'll feel tapped out after just a few minutes. [Mar 2007, p.81]
Official Xbox Magazine UK
Quirky, funny and colorful, Root Beer Tapper is both cheeky and challenging and a cheap distraction on a Wednesday night. [Feb 2007, p.101]
Team Xbox
It’s one of those games that you can show to people who were alive when the original was released, and it might be fun to toy around with for an hour or so, but that’s all the life you’ll get out of the game, even with the Xbox Live support thrown in.

Mind-numbingly boring. [Issue#23, p.97]

Super Dude gave it a9:
This game is a great classic. It takes some practice and alot of skill but once you master it, it can be alot of fun once you get to serve alien's drinks in outer space.
Andyman gave it a5:
It's a faithful port of the arcade game. Unfortunately, the arcade game wasn't terribly fun to begin with, making this nearly irrelevant. It's worth the $5 for fans of the game. Everyone else should save their MS Points for something else.
