Summary
Scene It? Lights, Camera, Action brings friends and family together for a casual movie trivia game that everyone can play and enjoy. Using the simple and intuitive Big Button Pad, challenge your friends to see whose movie knowledge reigns supreme, with real content from your favorite movies and actors. New puzzle challenges: The Xbox 360 game includes more than 1,800 questions not seen before in any otherScene It? game. It features five new types of puzzle challenge that are sure to keep you guessing all night long. Enjoy "Credit Roll," where you guess the film based on the list of characters and actors, "Child’s Play," where you guess the name of the film based on a child's drawing of a film scene, and "Quotables," where you are challenged to finish a famous line from a featured film. In addition, all 21 puzzle types have been designed to provide the ultimate multiplayer experience on Xbox 360. Big Button Pad: Scene It? Lights, Camera, Action is shipped with four new wireless Big Button Pads, so each player has his or her own buzzer. Making games such as Scene It? more approachable for all types of players, the Big Button Pad takes its inspiration from the game show buzzers of yesteryear but uses the latest infrared technology to minimize the chances of an argument over who answered first. Hi-def visuals: The game offers a wide assortment of movie clips in HD format, as well as hundreds of stills and audio clips from your favorite films. Minimal repeats: The Xbox 360 version keeps track of questions that have already been asked and minimizes repeats so you rarely get the same question twice. [Microsoft]

There are so many clips and questions packed into this game that you’ll likely still be having fun long after your first game. The game also saves which questions each player has seen, making it much more difficult for a repeat question until well after seeing the majority.

A very interesting movietrivia. The questions and puzzles are pleasantly varied. [Jan 2008]
Game Informer
A nice side effect from playing Scene It is that it makes you want to go back and watch a movie you haven’t seen in a long time or even check out an older film you had never heard of before. (Caveman is going straight into my Netflix queue, btw).

So if you’re looking for a great party game this holiday season, and you happen to like movies, there isn’t anything better than Scene It? Lights, Camera, Action. Even by yourself, the game provides a lot of fun, but it gets even better when you play with others.

After just four or five enormously fun games of Scene It?, we’d racked up 27 Achievements worth over 600 points — great! We just can’t comprehend why there’s no online film festival.

If you throw a lot of parties or have people over often, this is a good game to have on hand, especially if you're just looking to have a night of casual fun with some friends. [Feb 2008, p.82]
Gaming Nexus
While I'm disappointed that the controllers are infrared and there's no online play, Scene It? Lights, Camera, Action is a solid entry in the casual area of games.

If you’re a fan of movie trivia, the original Scene It? board game then Scene It? Lights, Camera, Action is must have.

Overall, the game is very enjoyable and a good attempt at bringing a new crowd onboard to the Xbox scene.

It's nothing revolutionary, but the Big Button Pads add a new competitive element, and the new questions will entice fans of silver-screen trivia. This could actually see a lot of action during holiday get-togethers if you've got a bunch of movie buffs in your family.

Unless they patch the game to allow for Live play against others or release downloadable questions to add on, Scene It may be a fantastic party game with a short shelf life. As it stands, if you are planning to have friends and family over for the holidays, Scene It and Rock Band make up fantastic family fun that rivals anything going on the Wii.

Nearly anyone can plop down on couch and get enjoyment out of Scene It? Lights, Camera, Action in a party setting, which makes this Microsoft/Screenlife collaborative a success. But for the game and franchise to have any legs on the Xbox 360, downloadable content and some form of Live tie-in is a must.

Plain and simple, “Scene It? Lights, Camera, Action” is a great party game for the Xbox 360.

The game tracks which questions each player has seen and populates each quiz with fresh puzzles.

While Scene It? is only just full enough of movie quizzing to hold up for several parties, it's a near-perfect translation from tabletop to 360 and, in fact, probably plays more closely to what its original creators intended.

That being said, as far as quiz based multiplayer games go, Scene it! Lights, Camera, Action does exactly what it says on the tin. The game randomises questions perfectly, so the same puzzles rarely crop and the Wireless controllers are a joy to use. However, unless Microsoft adds further games to the series, or even downloadable content, both the game and controllers will inevitably have a limited life-span.

Scene It?'s brand of movie trivia is one that will be enjoyed by both casual and hardcore movie fans.

Even with the strikes against it, Scene It? is fun with a few other players and it’s accessible enough that even the non-gamers can play.

A casual game for casual gamers, meant to be fun, fast and simple. Its flaws are significant and could limit it for some, but the design, quality and variety of questions, and carefully toned pace make it fun for most players and worth getting if you often have parties with non-gamers, casual gamers or film fiends.

A decent "Buzz!"-rival for the Xbox 360, but don't expect any thrills or frills. [Christmas 2007, p.83]
GameSpy
Your love for trivia games will heavily determine whether you want to pick up this package or not, as there's a great deal here for movie fans but probably not a lot for others.

For drinking fun with people who are in their twenties and know who Parker Posey is, pick Scene It. For family fun with people who are either too young or too old to drive and think Truffaut is a special kind of Ferrero Rocher, pick Buzz! Hollywood.

Don't expect this game to knock your socks off. However, it is the best Scene It? released to date for any platform, and it will easily replace the DVD versions you might own.
Is it worth the 60 dollar entry fee? Given that a regular game of Scene It? is going to run you 40 bucks from a retail store, I’d say, yes. You get hundreds more questions, four controllers (even if they have ripped off Buzz’s design), and the real kicker is that the Xbox 360 varies the 1,800 questions much better than a standard DVD player.

Single player is slowed down by an obnoxious and unnecessary presentation. But given how well the game works with friends, the sheer variety of trivia, and the brisk pace of the game, we don't feel out of line saying that Scene It? Lights, Camera, Action could be the best and most definitive version out there.

The game is a great edition of the popular board game, while the lack of online play and gameplay features don’t quite let it shine among other Xbox 360 games.

A respectable debut for the series on the Xbox 360, the buzzers are wireless, it's a shame about the number of questions but Scene It? is definitely a game that will get the casual gamer involved this Christmas.

It has a nice mix of shiny and dusty, making it relevant for players of all ages, and with 21 different puzzles there's some depth to dive.

OK we admit, Scene It? Lights Camera Action isn't the car wreck of a title that we thought it would be, but it has more to prove if it's going to challenge its stylish rival on PlayStation. Hopefully this debut instalment will be quickly followed with a regular stream of downloadable content over Xbox Live, ensuring that the often-repeated 'non-repeatable' questions don't get too stale.
If you're after a simple game that a large group of non-gamers can play together, Scene it? will do the job very well. With the promise of downloadable content, the game should live on well beyond the initial 1800 questions and the lack of wires on the big button controllers is great for a party environment.
NZGamer
The biggest draw here is the inclusion of many movie clips and sound bites. It’s pretty cool sitting back and watching a clip, and then pretty frantic as you realize you should have been paying more attention when the questions continually stump you. Oh, and if you aren’t much of a movie buff, you may as well stop reading now.

A good import of a mediocre board game, Lights, Camera, Action! is worth a look for fans of the original game or others who are looking for a new game night experience.

In a decent little package, Microsoft has managed to gather a nice little bundle that will no doubt be the beginning of a series of “Scene It’s.”

This game is meant to be played with three other people. With two or on your own, it is a boring affair. With 1800 different questions and a bunch of moviescenes, you can definitely have fun for a few nights, especially if you and your friends are movie-lovers. If you're not that much at home with the cinema, this game isn't meant for you.

Though the pace of the game is appreciated, it would have been nice to see more than a simple sequence of questions with little in between. [Chrismas 2007, p.133]
GameTap
The best part about Scene It is that you can get a bunch of achievement points! Sure, you may not know exactly why you're getting them every time, but if you can pad your GamerScore by 110 achievement points in under an hour, who cares if you understand how you get them!

This is easily the most accessible title in the 360's library, and anyone with even the slightest interest in the movie world will find themselves hooked. [Issue 27, p.93]
Video Game Talk
All in all, you cannot go wrong with a quality title like this that brings gamers and non-gamers together in a battle of trivia knowledge.

Spencer B. gave it an8:
Good game if not a bit tedious waiting for the next set of questions.
Damian K. gave it a5:
Decent enough trivia game IF players have extensive film knowledge. I took this game to my parents' house on Xmas day, and both they and my 18 yr old brother struggled due to the relative obscurity of some of the films and the difficulty of the questions. They did not particularly enjoy the game, as they could not answer many questions. If a trivia game is going to specialise in one genre, the questions should not be so specific as to alienate those without huge knowledge in that genre. That said, for film buffs this is a good game.
John K. gave it a10:
This is a great party game! Tons of fun for anyone that is a teenager on up (it is a bit tough for younger kids because they will not know most of the movies). This is better than any prior version of Scene It because the 360's hard drive eliminates duplicate questions. If you like movies, this is a great game to play with your friends and family! However, it is so much fun that we will probably play through all the questions in not too long, so I really hope that they issue some downloadable extra content through X-Box Live! (You hear that Microsoft-- I will be willing to buy a download for this game, so get to work!)
Steve & Paula B. gave it a9:
Great way to get the family involved especially if you have company over. Much more fun the the Scene It DVD game. I'm hoping Xbox will offer more gameshow games that will utilize the big button controller (hint, hint Microsoft!!).
Andy M. gave it an8:
Excellent multiplayer game with the benefit of future downloadable question packs from Live Marketplace. The only negative for me is that if you haven't seen some of the films, you'll struggle, although having said that, the questions aren't always related to the rest of the movie, they can be observational too.
Rob S. gave it a9:
Excellent at what it is - a PARTY GAME! will definately become a regular at our dinner parties!
Paul S. gave it an8:
FUN GAME for when you have friends or family over.
