Summary
The next generation of Tiger Woods PGA TOUR delivers higher-fidelity physics models that allow the ball when struck to interact more realistically with the clubface and terrain, resulting in more realistic ball flight and bounces. Advanced lighting techniques provide a much better sense of terrain undulation and the contours make giving players the ability to realistically interpret approach shots or a crucial putt on a rolling green. The game’s visuals aren’t as drastically improved as other EA Sports titles but there are enough graphical nuances and tweaks to make it worthwhile.

A nice addition to any 360 library, but probably not worth upgrading to if you already own the current-gen edition of Tiger 06. [Jan 2006, p.149]
Official Xbox Magazine
It's graphically below par (shouldn't they be over par?), but the gameplay is so smartly evolved that it's $60 well spent. [Jan 2006, p.81]
Gaming Age
I am extremely happy with the direction that EA is taking this series, and if EA brings back the real time calendar, course creator, and adds many more courses and options, this may tie up my gaming time between rounds of real golf.
The level of detail in the courses is outstanding, as are most of the player models, but it only features half the number of courses and a less involved career mode.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 on Xbox 360 makes a couple of sacrifices - okay, it makes quite a lot. But we gain from those sacrifices; more challenges, the game is a lot harder and more rewarding for it, while the graphics are out of this world.

A better looking and a smarter, more serious golfing experience than any other console title to date.
While Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 for Xbox 360 is missing many of the features that round out the game on current-gen platforms and the PC, what remains is a challenging, enjoyable game of golf that, in some ways, exceeds the more fleshed-out versions.
While it is a lot prettier than the other console versions, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 for the Xbox 360 feels like a rushed production that plays well enough but still not up to the standards of the new console.
While not a breathtaking golf presentation, Tiger Woods 06 does a good job of establishing it’s dominance on the 360.

Golf fans will eat the title up and love doing it, but for the casual player, it may be too lacking in its final product.

Proves to fall a bit flat due to its lack of depth and its lack of improvement from the Xbox version. The visuals and physics have been enhanced, but those are the only areas where significant changes have been made.

I really like Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 despite the troublesome controls. The graphics are gorgeous, especially on a widescreen HDTV in all their panoramic glory, which only makes you wish for more than the six included courses.
While Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 isn't without its flaws -- I would have appreciated more courses and it does take a long time to "master" -- it is probably the best of EA's launch sports titles for the 360.
It’s really a shame that EA pushed this one out the door to make launch because it truly shows. The lack of courses is pitiful and the game will get old quickly.

No one can deny the Tiger Woods PGA Tour franchise the rank of golf sim head honcho, but sometimes even the best needs to change - and soon. [Jan 2006, p.48]
eToychest
A mere shadow of its current-generation brethren. Improved graphics are always great, but at the cost of features and fun, it just isn't worth it.

Ultimately, the first golf game on 360 is an admirable sign of things to come. But considering its emaciated course selection and the fact that it runs ten bucks more than the current-gen version, we'd think long and hard about which version is best for you.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour has gone from a throwaway golf-like substance on a disc to a surprisingly challenging and fun simulation with loads of promise for the future.

It's a fairly lazy conclusion to say that Tiger Woods is the 360's best golf game...That's true. [Issue #2]
Computer and Video Games
It may not be the next-gen golfing revolution we were hoping for, but it's still a hugely enjoyable round that captures the ambience of the sport better than any other current-gen game. Just don't expect it to knock your plus-fours off. [Official UK Xbox Magazine]

There aren't enough courses - six feels more like an appetizer than a gourmet feast - and no obvious expectation of future additions via Xbox Live.
The next-gen graphics were exponentially more impressive when fired up side-by-side with the normal Xbox version -- which has so little detail by comparison it's shocking.
Anyone who's played Tiger in the past, or even "Links 2004" for that matter, will find this an unnecessary addition to their library. It's not a bad game, it's just not a fantastic show-stopper of one either.

The ability to change and edit the voice of your customized character is a wonderful feature that really adds for a very unique game experience for each player.

Playing the Xbox version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 is kinda like playing against a hot blonde who has the best golf advice in the world. Playing the Xbox 360 version is like playing the same blonde who'll give you advice on where to get your car washed.
For fans of Tiger-style golf, you’ll probably be tied between which versions of the game to play; the Xbox version is more feature-rich, but the 360 version looks worlds better.
Tiger is still a good golfing game, but there's no ambition here on 360. Visuals take center stage, and the features are only a promise of the future. Where's the value?
The lack of courses really hurts this title and their usual 'next gen' approach of upgrading the graphics and presentation slightly from the current gen versions and skimping on the content is hard to swallow considering the price tag.

Tiger Wood's PGA Tour 2006 is an average title that doesn't even match up to the current generation equivalents.

If you're a true fan of golf looking to get more out of your money (a lot more) and didn't already pick this up on the Xbox, PS2 or PC, I suggest that you back up, go out and find a copy of this for a current system and come back next year when EA will have its act together.
It'll soak up plenty of your time, but it's a real trudge, and rarely presents anything new or exciting - you've experienced most of the good by the time you've qualified for the PGA Tour itself, and indeed most of us will have experienced it all by, er, well, had experienced it all by 2003.
The fact is, if you already own a Tiger game for a current-gen machine, you own a better one than this. Numbers don’t lie, and neither do we.
I think this title is a disaster. It would be one thing if this were the first of the Tiger Woods PGA Tour franchise, but this franchise has been around for a long time, and there is no excuse to take things away from the game, throw in a few catchy animations to "wow" people, and then wrap it up and charge more than previous installments.
A major disappointment. It’s another game where you can see the potential for the console but instead you’re stuck with a game that was rushed out to stores.
While an online mode does help alleviate some of the issues found in the single-player game, the severe lack of content makes it really hard to justify a purchase.

Gravy11 gave it an8:
This game is not as bad as people make it out to be. The game is extremely easy to beat. I'd turn off the "Gamebreaker" gauge if you are playing a career. It makes Hole-in ones and albatrosses, extremely easy. I have about 20 of each through my first year on the tour. The ball doesn't roll truely like it did in 2005, but it's still a good game nonetheless. Plus, it took a while for me to get used to the new controls, but once you do it's easy. This game will definitely keep me busy until baseball comes out or Splinter Cell.
[Anonymous] gave it a3:
bot this for the 360 and was expecting more of the same from the last xbox version. I was sooo disappointed. The graphics are pretty but this looks and feels like a pc game with tiny sprites/icons that are unpleasing to the eye. The putting is new and I hate it. Gone are the caddy tips and now it's your best guess. This game was sooo rushed and it shows. So for golf I am still playing the old xbox version Tiger. Rent this first and save your cash!
Bobby J. gave it a10:
This game plays like a hot knife through butter, fast and seameless. The graphics are kickin' and the golf is as true to life as yet provided in a golf game.
