A very mediocre game from developer Artoon just like their last effort "Bullet Witch." If you love the genre then you might consider this one a rainy day at the bargain bin. [JPN Import]

Regarding Vampire Rain sneaking is the key to success. If enemies are aware of your presence, you will die in a flash. So this title is made for folks who are willing to invest loads of time.

Simply put, Vampire Rain fails to live up to other great stealth-action based games already available on the market.

Extreme Gamer

An interesting idea that doesn’t come to full bloom. A horror flavoured stealth game with a Splinter Cell offense versus undead Vampire creatures could be something gamers really bite into. Poor graphic quality, lazy missions and level design really hurt Vampire Rain making the end product feel more like a budget title then the full price offering it is listed at.

Despite the aforementioned illusion of choice, there is really only one pre-determined way to conquer a given mission, each stealthy ability in reality a functional button-press to move the game along. [Apr 2007, p.87]

360 Gamer Magazine UK

Decent stealth elements and a fun Live play can't quite redeem what is a deeeply shoddy game. This is the next-gen era of gaming, so why does this feel like it's from 1997 and not 2007? [JPN Import, Issue 24, p.75]

Game Almighty

Vampire Rain takes what could be an amazingly fun, unique concept and basically throws it in the trash. Uninspired and forced stealth, guns that don’t get fired, undead that won’t die and more are all here.

If it weren’t for Tenchu Z, Vampire Rain would undoubtedly be the worst title I’ve had the displeasure of playing on the Xbox 360. Why Microsoft decided to bring this travesty to North America is beyond comprehension. It packs itself chock-full of every gaming cliché in the book.

There isn’t too much else to be said about Vampire Rain, other than semi-mindless ranting about how bad the game is (only semi-mindless because you begin coherently, but the ranting consumes too much of you and you might forget what you’re talking about).

It failed in every aspect. The gameplay is frustrating and tedious, the graphics are bland and boring and the plotline is simply incoherent.

Vampire Rain fails at almost everything it tries. Despite the undeniably appealing setting, there's nothing here that justifies even a reserved recommendation. Depressing, derivative, and controller-throwingly frustrating, here's one occasion when you should let the rain stop you from playing.

The control of our man Lloyd is sloppy and slow, the stealth movements aren't really that stealthy, only by trial and error can you even complete a level. Vampires are super tough early and then just as stupid the next moment.

The one shining moment through all this is the decent online multiplayer mode included. It’s pretty vanilla, but it runs great. Plus it’s possible to turn into a nightwalker should you be a bit too slow on the draw. It’s a very cool feature.

There's an overwhelming number of issues with Vampire Rain. While we'd like to go into detail about how obviously this game rips off Splinter Cell or how later missions send you through earlier levels backwards, there isn't enough time for all the complaints. Vampire Rain just sucks.

Eli E. gave it a9:
This game is a good game, it's just most people don't know how to play it, if you like games such as Splinter Cell and other type stealth games, you will love this game for sure. Because almost anyone who played this game and said it sucked, probably just ran around like an idiot with there gun out and tried to kill the vampires.

John Doe gave it a0:
I'm ok with a pistol no hurting vampires. Except maybe when its called ANTI-NIGHTWALKER gear in the description. Then it's just stupid.I'm ok with though enemies,I like that concept.Except maybe when by tough, they mean something that can't be killed with anything other than a shotgun (which really isnt that much better at pumping lead than an assault rifle) and rush you in 2 seconds,no matter where you are and how far, then take half your health with 1 hit, throwing you down where you can't do anything about the 2nd,deadly one.The guy kicks like he was retarded or something. You can't expect to hurt anything with a kick from soccer-fu.And a pass,at that. Finally, graphics arent that good, rain pours into the NPC's eyes (which are totally useless, your character always says hes going alone, almost)and it's a crappy mix between MGS/SC/RE. With epic failure galore.Alas, unless you have a shotty, its a platformer.

Will B. gave it an8:
Very much an aquired taste, if you do not like frequent death and sparse, b grade environments beware. This is a game only the Japanese could create, they have made the nightwalkers very hard to take down, and very fast, hence if one sees you you have 0 chance unless you have a shotgun. Personally i loved this harsh design sensebility as it makes it one of the first games to feature nigh on unkillable foes, meaning you have to get everything right to progress (however checkpoints are plentiful). Much better than Bullet witch Artoon's other 360 offering. Online is very well balanced but there are few users...if you see it cheap take a chance.

James M. gave it a1:
This game blows, it's some kind of horrible Spliter-Cell/Syphon Filter type game (but worse...) with vampires thrown in, in order to try to sell a few copies to those people that enjoy the occult and vampire related games.

Brian F. gave it an8:
This game will appeal to those who enjoyed Thief: Deadly Shadows and the 1st Splinter Cell on the original xbox. It is about stealth and not running and gunning. Multiplayer is a pleasant surprise because you have the option to become a "Nightwalker' during play. This makes you faster, jump higher and makes killing humans during LIVE a lot easier. Yes, it does play like Splinter Cell but that helps the player grasp the controls better for a non-steep learning curve. If you perfer "ghosting" through levels as opposed to shooting guards, then this game is for you. About a little bit before half way through, you will find weapons that can kill vampires with one or two shots (shotgun, sniper rifle, UV knife). Not for those who have little patience because there is a bit of trial & error involved here, as well as a linear gameplay a la 1st SC. But if stealth is your thing, then this game will satisfy you.

Kim C. gave it a1:
Cheap graphix...boring sneaknig...horrible level design.and AI.This is the worst sneak game ever.
