Summary
WET is a seamless integration of intense gunplay, death-defying acrobatics and exciting swordplay. The game tells the story of Rubi, an acrobatic gun-for-hire. When she agrees to help a wealthy man find and bring back his wayward son, all hell breaks loose and the tables are turned, as the man who hired her isn't who he appeared to be. Now Rubi's on the run, needing to find the man who left her for dead and leaving a massive body count in her wake. Innovative 3rd person shooter gameplay: With her trusty twin custom made Colt Pythons, Rubi gracefully engages in amazing, cinematic high-body count gunplay against diverse and challenging enemies. Along with her guns, Rubi has an arsenal of death-defying acrobatic moves. Her incredible agility allows her to climb on ledges, slide under obstacles, swing on poles and run along walls. Rubi's sword is an instrument for deadly close-quarter proximity attacks. Rubi will unleash a flurry of multi-staged stylized attack sequences. [Sierra Entertainment]

There never seemed to be alternate routes to take; there's one way to go and that's it.

Even though there are a few frustrating moments in the game, the pros easily outweigh the cons and Wet succeeds being a decent third person action adventure game.

I am sure the “Grindhouse” graphics and audio will annoy some people to death, those brave enough to see the games beauty behind the rough graphic filters, rock-a-billy music and blood n’ guts gameplay will find much entertainment in this game. Certainly one of the few new gaming franchises that are a true must buy this summer. Rubi and WET totally rock.

Just when you thought the third-person action/shooter genre was running thin on style, Wet has come along and shaken things up for the better.

Although the controls could use some tightening, the overall experience screams with pure and pleasurable-rage-induced-bloody-action.

Artistically, however, the game is one of the most interesting and most well-done games of the past decade. While other games have taken on the idea of a game emulating a certain type of film, Wet is the first to truly embrace it.

WET is a fun game whilst it lasts but once over there is very little to tempt you back due to a few silly omissions.

WET is an aquired taste, and while some gamers will love to splash around in this off beat amusement of campy action, others will simply shake their heads.

The game most certainly won’t be to everyone’s taste but third person shooter fans will definitely want to take a look and get WET with Rubi.

Wet is exactly what it claims to be and nothing more. The action is intense, repetitive and predictable, but it is also highly entertaining.
Trust me on this though, if you can go into WET thinking you want a ton of action mixed with some strategy then you'll be happy. Sure the A.I. isn't the best and sure there is some repetitiveness in the game, but the style and action completely make up for that.
It’s not polished enough to hang with the games that inspired it – the action gets messy to the point of frustration far too often, and the level designs are rudimentary to say the least – but if you’re looking for a weekend sugar-rush you could do much worse.

Though there is a certain roughness to the action, Wet is still a raucously entertaining adventure.

If you can look past the repetitiveness of the arena battles and the sometimes clunky controls of the acrobatics, WET is definitely worth giving a go even if just for its visual and gameplay uniqueness, not to mention its kick ass soundtrack.

It may not be the best action game of the year, but it's worth playing through if only to hear the amazing soundtrack!

It’s a classic rainy day rental and in that capacity, as an unpretentious shoot-em-up, it works just fine.

The flair of Wet—exhibited in touches like a head-banging original soundtrack, an ultra-stylized “rage mode” that paints the screen red, and loading screens that dredge up vintage theater PSAs—gives the game enough drive to overcome most of its flaws.

Like the grindhouse action flicks of the ’70s, Wet is a wild ride packed with enough blood, bullets, and ridiculous over-the-top action to make it worth your while.

Well worth checking out if you can stomach lots of blood, cheesy dialogue, some overly scripted moments, dreaded QTE, in fact all the ingredients that make an action packed game that's more expected than inspiring.

Damn it! Rubi is really one of the toughest heroes in a videogame, even Quentin Tarantino couldn’t have made her better! The first hour playing WET will fly by like a second or two! Action for the midday break!

One cinematic pulp action extraveganza starring a take-no-prisoners potty-mouthed pistol, comin’ up! A2M hit the bullseye with WET succeeding where others have failed by not overthinking the gameplay and letting the action and stylization do the talking.

There’s quite a bit to enjoy with WET if you’re able to look past the flaws in the gameplay. WET had a chance to set a new bar for third-person action games, but it never has all its components working together at once to make a perfect package.
WET is certainly all about style over substance, but the rather short main story will not keep you occupied for too long. The presentation and music is spot on, but aside from a few achievements and challenge modes, there will be very little reason for most players to come back after one playthrough.

It’s disappointing that this product didn’t achieve as much as it could’ve accomplished, but as a pure thrill-based action game, you could certainly do a lot worse.

It's sad, then, that Wet never really comes together nearly as well as it could've.

Fighting through crowds of enemies is only appealing for so long until a sense of confusion sets; a confusion that asks, “What else does WET offer besides the same fights over and over again?” The answer to that rhetorical question is not much.

A game released in the wrong time. With so many new and innovative games around, a game relying on blood and slow motion action will struggle.

So the game is fun, but ultimately flawed. It'll definitely appeal to those who like over-the-top, action-heavy titles, but the low graphical quality and somewhat repetitive nature of the titles will likely turn others away.

Overall, excluding the jumping puzzles, there isn't anything particularly bad about WET. It's a fun shooter, it's clearly designed for adults, and it gives you a lot of options for looking cool while mercilessly slaughtering hundreds of people.

Is WET a must buy? Nope, but it could be a good choice at the moment, without impressive releases and if you need an easy game to spend some hours with fun. The only rule is that you have to like Tarantino of course!

Wet is definitely a competent shooter and hopefully it does well enough where Artificial Mind and Movement will get a chance at another title.
Wet is like a marriage of Max Payne and Prince of Persia, but without the great graphics and deep engaging gameplay. Even though this is just a concoction of mindless violence, foul language and stereotype Tarantino-esque attitude, we can't ignore the fact that it can actually be quite fun at times. If you're looking for an over the top action game, filled to the brim with cheesy attitude and stylized violence, this one fits the bill perfectly.
Some parts of Wet are pretty decent, but the game clearly lacks highlights. There are way too many quick time events, especially during the final bossfight. To be accurate, the whole bossfight is a quick time event. However, everyone who enjoyed Stranglehold will have fun with Rubi too.
Despite those shortcomings, though, Wet's experiment is a mostly successful one. It's a game entirely devoted to appearances, never asking the player to kill people, but rather to kill them as spectacularly as possible.
WET has some fantastic moments, but is plagued by some annoying deficiencies. It’s really cool to swing through the levels with the well formed Ruby and at the same time shoot some nasty enemies to oblivion. But after a while playing this game, you find yourself doing the same thing over and over again, and the controls aren’t that precise. It’s a fun game you should get when it’s budget priced.

A super-accessible, stylish, over-the-top slaughterfest. [Dec 2009, p.80]
GameDaily
The gameplay is sometimes clunky, and there's not much replay value, save for a couple of additional modes like Points Count and one-hit kill Golden Bullets. However, with its slick presentation and blood-spilling carnage, Wet is a fun action romp.

It's shamelessly derivative, gloriously over-the-top and it doesn't take itself too seriously. Most of all, it's brilliant fun.

WET's sassy style and minimalistic gameplay give it a tasty enough flavor that you won't find anywhere else, but like movie theater popcorn, you can only consume so much of it before you're hungry for something with a bit more substance.

By any other name, WET is Kill Bill: The Video Game. WET gives everything it has to offer in the first ten minutes. Nevertheless, the score/health system that lies at its core keeps it compelling with a strong dynamic that lends the urgency and pace third-person shooters desperately require.

It may sound like Prince of Persia locked, loaded and with a bad attitude, but WET manages to raise itself above such a me-too premise through pure charm.

What disappoints me about WET is that the developers seemed to sabotage the fun factor in their own game by insisting on too many video game and film stereotypes.
With almost no replayability I do get the short term appeal of the game but the long term shelf life is simply not there and it will gather dust or be traded in shortly after completion.

Wet is definitely enjoyable for those of us who like our action games with plenty of hack and extra slash, but like most of these titles, it’s not going to break the mold.

While it's not the most fantastic thing ever, a couple of its components -- namely the stylish presentation and the battle arenas -- are brilliant. Wet has the makings of a universe I'd like to revisit, but I'd want to see the same amount of polish that's been afforded to the wrappings in a follow-up.

WET isn't really an original game. Several ingredients are taken from other good titles. Nevertheless, WET is amusing for a couple of hours and therefore it's just a good B-title.
Wet is a stylish game, with a fair share of Tarantino and Stranglehold as inspirations. Sadly it doesn’t matches nor the genius of the former neither the fun gunplay of the latter, leaving just a repetitive action to be played over and over, with not much fun left.
On the whole, the game feels like it struggles with itself: On one hand it presents some enjoyable artistic and campy elements, as it plays homage to an old film genre, and delivers a star cast of mildly acted voice talent complemented by a superbly fitting rockabilly soundtrack; while on the other, it tussles with quirky gameplay mechanics that sometimes just don’t work.

WET is attractive at first sight, but irritating if we decide to go deeper, just like Rubi, its main character.

Ultimately, WET only occasionally transcends average status, its brand of excessive action marred by a lack of depth, unrelenting repetition and a dearth of imagination. Strangely likeable, those seeking straightforward, uncomplicated shooting thrills may happily overlook the game's issues and enjoy a solid, fun-filled blast for a good few hours or so.

WET is easy to recommend as an overnight rental, but chances are it's something you don't want hanging around the morning after.

Wet has some good ideas, but it falls just short of being a good game. Like its aesthetic, the game feels slightly dated and rough around the edges.
Console Monster
If you need your fill of stupid action, definitely give this a rent. But savour those few moments of pure joy as they don't stick around for long.
Read Full Review >Xbox World 360 Magazine UK
In February Wet would be a rock-solid rental, in May it's a pre-owned bargain, but one week before ODST and one month after Batman, it's another Wanted-style cheeseburger in a world of filet mignon.
Some interesting ideas, the grotesque violence and tarantinian movie atmosphere aren't enough to raise Wet over the average action games. The game is penalized from a mediocre technical production, awkward gameplay choices and a short longevity, making it suitable only for those of you fascinated by the nice main character and a lot of gratuitous violence.
WET's distinct over-the-top action is ironically its primary weakness.
The story of double-crosses and revenge feels pretty inconsequential over the course of Wet, but it manages to get the game's sharp dialogue across, so it certainly has its place. But that's probably the best thing that can be said about Wet, because the rest of its interesting moments get driven into the ground through repetition over the course of its 12 chapters.

Wet's desire to be watched more than played keeps it from being anything more than a mediocre third person shooter.

It’s still strangely alluring, enough so that even after completion (which only took seven hours) I went straight back and played the first two levels all over again.

Some will enjoy this, but for most the game won't keep their attention long enough to justify forking out full price. WET is good fun for a couple of hours but ultimately it's a classic case of style over substance.
Wet is off to a great start. The Grind house-movie-flavor works and the music is upbeat. The first four hours fly by thanks to the gameplay and a very nice looking Ruby. But after that, it gets repetitive. There's a lack of variation and challenge. When you die, you don't get the feeling it's your fault. And at the end, you get into a boss fight that's a real disappointment. Wet is a game that really entertains for a while and after that doesn't offer enough. This makes the game ideal to pick up when the price drops, to complete it on a rainy Sunday.

The game plays just like a movie as you hack, slash and wall-run your way through the game in control of Rubi, a sexy female assassin. Over-the-top acrobatics and slow motion moves allow for some pretty high levels of gore. Unfortunately it's all been done before, and WET doesn't really seem to do much of it overly well.

Wet has a great story with some excellent voice acting from the main players – the people behind Pelham, Ackers and Rubi all manage to carry off that dark, menacing vibe without straying into comic book territory. It’s just that the game lacks any real staying power – the scoring mechanic isn’t strong enough and the inconsistent pacing will fail to draw many players back after the initial playthrough.

F.. the review. Rubi and the Wet Team get 10's. Yeah there are some really inexcusable glitchy stuff, but the story and the feel are incredible.

Very Stylish game, quite repetitive but if you enjoy a strait action game (and who doesn't) its well worth a shot!
Jo H gave it a9:
One word : AWESOME ! This game blew me away, WET went nuclear on me ! The gameplay is tough to master, but when you got it ... it never leaves you ! Rubi Malone is the best Anti-Hero EVER !
James Luke gave it an8:
Fairly solid game really, reminds me hugely of max payne. Certainly different and refreshing. Feels quite polished and finished which is always a good sign the developer has put some real thought into the game, from Bethseda you'd expect no less than excellence and they deliver, just as they ususally do. Wet is fun to play, and thats why i rate it so highly, the only real drawbacks being potential for replay, and possibly gameplay becomming drawn out and samey, those are why i havn't rated 9 or 10.
Bob H gave it a7:
This game is visually interesting and is a blast to play. The acrobatic shooting is incredible! However, “Wet” does suffer from some problems. Lining up some jumps, for instance was the source of MAJOR frustration for me. I have one jump that took me about 15 times to line up only to have a flaming barrel drop on my head after I managed to let out a sigh of relief when I FINALLY got across. It shouldn't be that hard to line up a jump. Another irritation it these levels where you have to run through and shoot all the little targets within a time limit. You can not progress in the game until you finish these and there really isn't any skills that you gain from doing them. These levels are totally useless within the story of the game. These should be optional and not mandatory.
kheas gave it an8:
This is a combination Tomb Raider, Stranglehold, Quentin Tarentino and a touch of Buffy. For anyone who likes mindless action with a string-a-long plot this game is for you. LOTS of fire, little filling, GREAT FUN, some frustration.
Nick B gave it a10:
Best action-flick grindhouse simulator out there, not that there are many, but this game has done stuff I haven't seen in any other game and has some serious style. Between this and Batman: AA I'm blown away at the great stuff coming out this year. As for the mixed bag of reviews....jaded reviewers? Wt didn't by enough advertising? No idea....
