Summary
[Xbox Live Arcade] Yosumin! is a puzzle game where you find rectangles of matching tiles known as "yosumin" and make them disappear. Make massive rectangles for the ultimate feeling of satisfaction! Yosumin! is a deceptively simple yet fiendish challenge, and it's not just about solo play - there are online battle modes to enjoy as well. Online battle Yosumin! Take on opponents from across the globe in online battles on Xbox LIVE. Endless Yosumin! Go it alone in this non-stop single-player mode. Battle Yosumin! Challenge the system itself in battles against computer-controlled opponents. Local battle Yosumin! Beat your buddies in local vs. matches! [Square Enix]

IGN
Square Enix's puzzle game will grab fans of the genre, but with such a meager feature set it may not be able to hold onto them for long.

Simplistic to a fault but still one of the most addictive, and fairly original, puzzlers of the year.

This one's strictly for import-puzzle otaku who enjoy relentlessly super-happy fun times yes! [Sept 2009, p.85]

The issue becomes whether you’ll try to fight through the hurdles (natural and unnatural) to milk some fun out of it. It’s in there, but it doesn’t seem as if it’ll sustain you for very long.

The concept at the core of Yosumin Live is robust, but it fails to hold up under extended play. Either Square Enix has happened upon a brilliant mechanic that has yet to fully bloom or one that it has been unable to sustain. The scant progression Yosumin has made in its transition from webgame to XBLA release indicates that perhaps it is the latter.

It's a very casual puzzle-like game that can slowly sneak up on you with a hidden complexity. It will not be fun for all players and even fans of the puzzle genre may be left scratching their heads.

This lacks the depth of an Eets: Chowdown or, of course, a chess title, putting it well down the list of Live Arcade puzzle titles alone. Sigh. [Issue#48, p.99]
GameSpot
This color-matching game is too random and shallow to entertain for long.
