New features include Expansion Play, which allows baseball fanatics to choose a city, stadium, and team logo and integrate that team into Major League Baseball, after which they'll draft from a pool of unprotected players in an expansion draft of free agents and Minor League players to build a team from scratch. 10 game modes include Season, Career, Franchise (with 20 consecutive seasons), All-Star Game, Home Run Derby, and Batting Practice. Gameplay is very good, with stunning sound and graphics. But franchise mode is too broad. Only 20 years. 2nd best baseball game on XBOX.

Far superior to Triple Play, but as a die-hard baseball fan, I'm truly disappointed. The batting interface is unrealistic and crappy, and I'm tired of all of the Mays-esque catches. It seems that there are at least five of those every game. Also, during the course of a season, what is the point in having control over the lineup, if your selections are to be overruled by the game. I've had healthy and productive players benched for no apparent reason as I play through the season. Finally, I had a player step up to the plate once, only to have him take one swing, and have the game tell me that he had contracted meningitis. What in the hell is that?

This game is a lot of fun. The pitching is very realistic. Hitting takes a little bit of practice. Who wants 25 run games anyways.

This game is fun in easy mode and the scores are realistic. But PHEEEEW! Turn on the batting cursor and the unplayability begins. And in franchise mode, you can trade scrubs for stars. Shallow! Did any of those "journalists" even play this game?
