A fairytale comeback. Extravagance was one of the signatures of the graphic adventure: extravagance to bring them in, and a cracking story well told to keep them. Both tenets of the Broken Sword series remain intact here, and that's all the devoted fans could have wanted. [Christmas 2003, p.94]

A new classic of the adventure genre. It looks unique, sounds excellent and has a plot with more twists and turns than a break-dancer in a tornado.

Cartoonish graphics, incredible voice acting and an engrossing story all make this a game to look at, that is - if you can get past the horrible interface and somewhat repetitive block puzzles.

Yes, this game is very linear, but it is entertaining and easy to get to hop into the mix and play.

One of the best console adventure games in the last few years. [Jan 2004, p.151]

The design has managed to capture the essence of the genre while making everything contextual to your controller, an impressive feat. [Jan 2004, p.84]

A refined, immersive, superbly scripted, and generally well-executed adventure. It's possibly the best example of sustained convergence yet experienced in a videogame.

Not the revolution we had expected, perhaps, but it's still got classic Revolution written all over it, and that's just about fine with us.

A good story told well is a rare thing, but for the third time, Revolution has done just that. Players looking for an intelligent adventure will find few better Xbox titles than this. [Mar 2004, p.82]

Cheat Code Central
Full of narrow escapes, intelligent puzzles, great graphics and an engaging storyline, Broken Sword is like a good novel come to life on your Xbox.

Xequted
The characters are memorable, the dialogue is sharp, and the puzzles (when they’re original) are usually pretty entertaining.

With its blend of cinematic style, 3D immersion, sharp writing, and likeable characters, it's otherwise an adventure game that does the genre proud.

An involving graphic adventure, but it's noticeably hampered by its technical flaws and well-meaning attempts at action sequences.

Every bout of loading takes 20-30 seconds, and there are so many of them that it really starts to kill the atmosphere after a while.

The primary downside to The Sleeping Dragon is its linear gameplay and simplified control scheme that will turn off some gamers. Overall I felt that TSD was a breath of fresh air.

If you’re looking for a fast paced adventure game with guns a blazing and peril at every corner, move on. On the other hand if you’re a fan of games like "Syberia" and even the "Myst" series you may want to give Broken Sword a serious look-see.

One of those games where the reviewer just bangs his or her head on their desk because it’s such an average title, since you can’t go wrong recommending it or advising people to avoid it.

Gamestyle seriously can't imagine anyone NOT having a good time with the game; the story is strong, scripting is well-done, characters are likable and the humour is abundant and at times very sarcastic.

The story, while involving, mainly because of the excellent character development, plays out quite linearly and this makes it feel as you’re playing an interactive movie.

Many of the puzzles are somewhat straightforward in design, and while ensuring players are less likely to hit those infuriating brick walls typically found in the genre's great titles, your input into the proceedings once again tends to feel slightly shallow and less rewarding than before. [Christmas 2003, p.108]

Steve D. gave it a 4:
What this game needs is more doors. Locked ones. That can never be opened. Yeah, it needs more doors. And puzzles involving finding new ways to open said doors. I won't be happy until there are more doors in the game than homebase. ... Shame on you Edge ...

Richard gave it a 4:
Another flawed XBOX conversion, avoid or buy on the PC, the game is very glitchy and bugged, this was confirmed by 3 memebers of my local game store. Whoever is doing these XBOX conversions needs to be sacked!

James D. gave it a 9:
Wasnt sure of the 3-D engine before purchase, but the transition from 2-D to 3-D really works!
