Game Chronicles

Blitz Pro walks a fine line between serious sim and classic Blitz action and maintains a perfect balance from start to finish.

IGN

The play dynamic is still fierce, there are tons of extra modes and fantasy teams to unlock. It's still a great two-player game, and the slightly better single player experience should make most fans of the series happy.

Cheat Code Central

Midway did a great job again this year and it's a great game for the single player or for the gamers who enjoys playing with friends.

78

GameZone

Good, and in some ways great, but it's too realistic to be true to the series. These new elements shouldn't be scrapped for the next edition, just revised.

Play Magazine

They've gone the realism route, and the end result is a mixed bag. [Oct 2003, p.83]

GameSpy

A schizophrenic title that can't really decided what it wants to be. It's still a fun and different take on the sport of football -- especially as a multiplayer party game -- it's just not as much fun as it used to be.

Xbox Nation Magazine

The new formula succeeds partially, but football maniacs are advised to look elsewhere for a more satisfying gridiron experience. [Mar 2004, p.80]

Yahoo! Games

A game that just doesn't fit in. Out of the box it's not as fun as its predecessors, and nowhere near as deep or engaging as Madden or ESPN.

Game Over Online

The inclusion of half-hearted simulation elements and toned down arcade gameplay result in Blitz Pro turning into a watered down shadow of its former self. Hopefully next year’s version will restore some glory to this now tarnished franchise.

Electronic Gaming Monthly

Still a user-friendly pigskin experience with lightning-fast over-the-top gameplay. Yet I'm forced to throw a penalty flag at the lack of big passing plays I've come to love from this franchise. [Nov 2003, p.172]

GameSpot

Similar to "Hitz Pro," Blitz Pro is a combination of arcade and simulation styles. Unfortunately, this combination doesn't work nearly as well as its NHL predecessor, and, while the end result can be fun, overall it's a pretty big leap backward for the Blitz series.

The gamers who are all about gameplay and who could care less about fantasy drafts and eleven players a side aren’t going to be too impressed.

Gaming Age

A cautious step in a new direction for Midway - pushing the series forward while still staying within sight of what gives Blitz its appeal is a tight line to walk, and for the most part, it hasn't turned out as well with NFL Blitz Pro as it did with "NHL Hitz Pro."

Gamezilla!

While I wouldn’t exactly classify NFL Blitz Pro as a complete disaster, no question, it has taken a turn for the worse. Buy it only if you have to have every Blitz game ever made.

Blue Falcon gave it a 7:
I love the Blitz series, but really think it was a mistake to move towards realism. The field feels way too crowded with the regulation # of players. Included here are some great new bonus modes too.

Steven S. gave it a 10:
This game is kicken.

Chuck E. gave it a 0:
Blitz with rules? What were those guys thinking...*tear* I miss the N64 format.

James Jordan M. gave it an 8:
This game is cool and all but it needs to have cheats like infinite credits or infinite turbo.

Corian Y. gave it a 10:
It Rocks.
