Summary
The shameless bunch from the Outlaw series returns to the repressed world of golf with their outrageously twisted antics. Bodacious babes and deviant dudes take to the course and give a whole new meaning to playing from the rough. Anyone and everyone can grab some balls and spin, hook and slice their way into the action on Xbox Live, where a state-of-the-art golf engine and 10 over-the-top characters turn boring old golf into a rowdy and tasteless display of uninhibited fun.

With downloadable content, 12 playable modes, TONS of unlockables as well as character stat customization, custom sound tracks, Dave attel’s voice, tournaments and a tracking system with so much details I’m almost ashamed that people can view my stats.

The characters in the game look incredible with a lot of detail and animation. The animations get repetitive after a while, but they are very smooth; and sometimes bust-out-loud funny.

What I didn’t expect was how awesome the online component of this game is. All of the matches were lag free and there are more game modes and gameplay options than a good portion of the Live games out there.

The most impressive new additions are in the course design. The developer has really got the hang of how to build holes and the overall presentation is polished to the point where you could mistake it for an EA Big title.

Like it says on the box, Outlaw Golf 2 is lewd and crude, but a whole lot of fun.

On top of being genuinely funny, taking stabs at the game's hysterically exaggerated stereotypes, it's a great game of golf too. [Oct 2004, p.89]
Gaming Age
The gameplay is easily as deep and challenging as "Links" and "Tiger Woods." Those games are traditional, while Outlaw Golf is irreverent and usually bawdy enough that it's best avoided by the faint of heart.

The biggest change in the sound is the addition of Comedy Central’s Dave Attell as the announcer. He does a great job, but his list of comments is so short that you end up getting sick of hearing the same old jokes over and over again about 30 minutes into the game.

This is certainly the most “fun” you can have with a golf game. It’s fun and realistic with a wonderful cast of wild, crazy, and often naughty characters.

But for a golf game that clearly doesn't take itself seriously, it has solid gameplay elements and a ton of modes to keep you busy, plus great Xbox Live support.

Outlaw Golf 2’s golf gameplay isn’t stellar but the game more than makes up for this by the sheer variety of modes available, the unique and ultimately loveable (if a bit scary) character lineup, Xbox Live support and of course, the $20 price tag.

It's nice to see that Hypnotix didn't miss a beat when it came to staying true to the attitude of the original.

For 19.99 OG 2 is a blast to play on or offline. For those old enough to play it lives up to the rest of the other Outlaw titles.
Times Online
This outing is more rounded than the original and has more choice - such as eight courses to play compared with only three in the original - and at £17.99 it is good value.

A solid title and one that is perhaps better to play with mates or over Xbox Live if you are connected to the service.

For a game that's meant to be a goofy and irreverent take on the usually stuffy golf world, Outlaw Golf 2 is a surprisingly good golf sim. [Nov 2004, p.77]
Thunderbolt
Dave Attell, the famed comedian and host of Comedy Central's "Insomniac" show provides the color-commentary, and while it does eventually get repetitive, it's pretty funny. He fits the game nicely.

There is one thing to take into consideration, and that is the $19.99 price tag! Combine that with the solid gameplay and decent graphics, and any fan of the original should definitely go pick this game up.

The humour may wear thin pretty quickly, but underneath it all is a compelling, enjoyable golf experience that will appeal to newbies and golf nuts alike- the scantily clad women help too!

The controls for playing this game are really easy to use and work really well. The only thing is if you just slightly move the stick to the left or right during a swing it could cause havoc on your shot just like real life.

The humor is certainly there, but Hypnotix really needs to get the polish onto this simulation before people will revere its hilarity. [Oct 2004, p.125]
GameSpot
So even if bawdy caricatures of rednecks and dominatrices don't sound immediately appealing to you, Outlaw Golf 2 offers a tight, challenging game of golf with some unique gameplay ideas, and it comes at a price that makes it a terrific value.

Bringing the thugs, the strippers, the spoiled brats, and other freaks to the next round of Outlaw Golf has seen the game grow in terms of amount of things to do, but it's still stagnating in terms of overall game design.

It is intended for those of us who found humor in this summer’s comedy film, "Dodgeball": if you like crass-but-sarcastic-and-witty humor, you can’t go wrong.

Offers up an extremely solid experience that is simple enough to play for anyone, but deep enough that it can become very competitive.

Never takes itself too seriously and offers up a great alternative from the rest of the pack.

A decent game but like the first one is too firmly focused away from party games and more on being a golf game.

The outrageous characters, puerile sight gags and sarcastic commentary provide some chuckles but the jokes are repeated too often. Fortunately, the controls and ball physics are hard to fault.

Though the game may have its frustrating moments, the amount of assistance the computer gives the player is ridiculous. For example, one "ghost shot" is allowed per hole. What this does is show you exactly how far and where the ball would land (and subsequently bounce) if you got a perfect shot. This is a HUGE help (and very cheap) help with chipping.

Guys will love the game for the eye candy and its quirky humor, but it doesn't have the staying power to keep people interested in the long run.

Even with the well-thought-out online options, the core gameplay is so basic, golf fans won't find this game interesting at all. If you're more the arcade sports player, on the other hand, you'll easily get your $20 worth from this.

Determining the lay of the green is near impossible without the slope grid (with is brought up with the white button), and even then, the grid is a square, it doesn’t cover the entire green, and is difficult to read.

It might be a good present for a lonely mate though, but that’s about it.

The definition of mediocrity. It is an amusing game with good play mechanics and solid physics. It is also an irritating game with long waits between turns, annoying voiceovers, and silly obstacles that are often not conducive to the type of golf game this is.

Part of the fun is watching everyone's humorous club swings and listening to their foul mouths after shanking a ball. Sadly, the jokes start repeating after the front nine. [Nov 2004, p.140]

Outlaw Golf 2 is actually a great game, but wading through the cut-scenes and commentary is hard work unless your sense of humour stopped developing when you were 15. [Jan 2005, p.115]
G4 TV
Considering the game's budget price tag of $20 is less than the green fees for most public golf courses, the repetitive nature of the sound and animations is hardly an issue if you don’t mind some spanking, slapping, grinding, stroking, and gyrating in your golf.

Once you turn off the commentary and cut scenes, this is a very solid golf game, but if you’re only getting one golf game this year - for ten dollars more, you might get more birdies for your buck with "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005".

The lasting appeal is great, the graphics aren't half bad, the sound is pretty good, yet the gameplay falls far below par to my golfing expectations.

The only area where "2" really shines is in its Xbox Live support, which is among the best in golf games today. Otherwise, you can expect the same dodgy controls and eighth grade fart jokes as before. [Nov 2004, p.99]

Steve D. gave it a10:
Completed the tour on 5 characters in OG 1 and now that I've play OG 2, I will probably never play OG 1 again. You must like childish humor to like this game, but it will make you laugh and the game play is fantastic. I'm starting to seem some resemblance to Tiger Woods golf. Every part of this game has been improved.
James T. gave it a 10:
The first one is Good so i figure the Second one is Better.
Ian W. gave it a 9:
Simply fantastic, forget Tiger Woods, this game is FUN! great golf engine, means the golf is great, wacky characters, amusing commentator, means that it's also fun. Great Solo, even better with 4 mates.
