A light breezy summer flick. Wonderful performance. Retrained and specific direction by Berri. The ending is maybe too subtle, or maybe I just wanted to continue to watch these characters for another hour. Well done, a cure for the summertime blues.

Because Jacques(Bacri) seems impervious to Laura's charms(Dequene) initially, albeit inevitable and expected, it's still a small shock to see this reserved man be receptive to the housekeeper's overtures. The only clue to Because Jacques(Bacri) seems impervious to Laura's charms(Dequene) initially, albeit inevitable and expected, it's still a small shock to see this reserved man be receptive to the housekeeper's overtures. The only clue to Jacque's attraction towards the domestic nymph is his addition of a second workday, while he's home, but she makes the first move, and the second one, too. This is a smart strategy because the audience doesn't want to watch a dirty, old man for ninety minutes. "The Housekeeper" can be obvious. We see they're mismatched through cultural disparaties in reading material and television viewing habits. But their relationship is interesting, because it's neither enjoyable or disturbing to watch, just curious. Berri finds the right ending, with a final image that restores order to the sanctity of conventional relationships. Expand
