This film was a breath of fresh air. Instead of seeing the bad points of Ireland, we finally see a witty and care free Irish comedy. 'Adam' is the type of character we all want to be, he gets on with everyone, he's funny, witty and very sly. He knows what people want from him and is able to give it to them, without questioning his morals eg.'why is he cheating on my sister.' This film is just a comedy, it's something we'd love to get away with and he brings out the qualities in every sister, Laura now has more passion a nd able to go up to anyman, Alice finally got a good f*ck and the outcome is that she will now feel closer to the husband and Lucy has finally found love, unsupecting that Adam isn't as perfect as she thinks. About Adam is refreshingly amoralistic. At one point, Adam (Townsend) says to the effect, "I've always had the ability to give people what they want. I'm good at it." As a viewer, I agree. Adam could have been, because of his womanizing, easy to hate, but in the end, you are just like one of the sisters. He has given you what you want, and he was good at it. I suggest that any one who'd like to see a comedy (and not be hit over the head with a heavy handed message) should see what Adam is all about. Expand

Expand

Same old usual tried irish slop, with the same old faces whining about the same ol' things. Avoid at all costs!

Simply a pleasant diversion rather the paean to crazy-in-love classics it would so like to be.
  2. With few laughs and no real poignancy, the movie's success rests squarely on Adam's oft-naked shoulders.

Sweet, likable and consistently engaging, if so insubstantial that it's always on the verge of blowing away.
