• Starring: Christina Ricci, Justin Long, Liam Neeson
  • Summary: After a horrific car accident, Anna wakes up to find the local funeral director Eliot Deacon preparing her body for her funeral. Confused, terrified and feeling still very much alive, Anna doesn't believe she's dead, despite the funeral director's reassurances that she is merely in transition to the afterlife. Eliot convinces her he has the ability to communicate with the dead and is the only one who can help her. Trapped inside the funeral home, with nobody to turn to except Eliot, Anna is forced to face her deepest fears and accept her own death. But Anna's grief—stricken boyfriend Paul still can't shake the nagging suspicion that Eliot isn't what he appears to be. As the funeral nears, Paul gets closer to unlocking the disturbing truth, but it could be too late; Anna may have already begun to cross over the other side. With an unrelenting edge of menace, "After.Life" is a stylish psychological thriller which provocatively questions the line between life and death. (Anchor Bay Entertainment) Expand

The criss-crossing between drama, thriller, and horror is nothing if not arresting. It is also unsettling.
  2. Neeson's performance is so eerie, in a buttoned-down sort of way.
  3. Icky, nasty, calculatingly odd and a little funny, though more often strained and inadvertently absurd, After.Life changes its mood and apparent intentions from scene to scene, sometimes minute to minute.

  1. Fantastic! Unique. Chilling. And very different from the dross that's been vomited up in theaters this year. The director took risks making this movie and most of them come through (although a couple don't, but hey that's what taking risks is all about). What works? The overall sense of dread and incredibly creepy atmosphere. I was literally on the edge of my seat throughout. The acting was superb, in particular Liam Neeson was excellent as the unsettling funeral director. A perfectly restrained and chilling performance. Expand

Poor movie despite the interesting premise. Why Liam Neeson wasted his talent on this film is beyond me. The plot was illogical and the ending was so obvious I may as well have stopped watching about an hour into the movie. Expand
