Annie is light on its feet, frothy, and always insistently, at times provocatively kind, determined to melt grumpy hearts like marshmallows.
When Annie isn’t functioning as a showcase for Wallis’ tiny preternatural charm, it’s tonally varied to the point of discombobulation.

There are some very funny moments in the movie, even for grown-ups, including a video of Will that goes viral. The absurd machinations of Will’s smarmy political adviser are also good for a laugh. But ultimately, Annie is so fixated on being current that it will never be more than a passing fancy.
As far as holiday films go this is perfect for lightening the holiday hangover but ultimately it's equal parts onerous and energetic, overreaching in its attempt not buckle under the weight of previous iterations.
Wallis, who is an appealing young performer, simply doesn't have the chops for what has traditionally been one of the more demanding leads in a musical for a young performer, and Gluck, along with co-writer Aline Brosh McKenna, has built a film around Wallis that is constantly undercutting the songs, the choreography, and the entire idea of musicals.
Fans of previous incarnations are advised to check their nostalgia at the door, while the uninitiated may simply check their brains.
When a stage musical as beloved as Annie hits the big screen and falls ignominiously on its fat one, you might ask: WTF? For starters, updating the Depression-era tale to NYC 2014 is a really dumb idea. The strain of the shoehorning is evident in every scene.
I really enjoyed the original Annie but this wasn't the worst adaptation. a lot more urban and new songs a log with the classics. I liked the cast and the story though I feel they didn't make it as harsh as it was in the original. I think the main issue I had was the lip syncing it looked so obvious most of the time. Not bad though.

This is the result when you have too many good ideas and put them all together, it doesn't work at all. I watched it with my family and we were bored of everyone singing every 5 min. At the last minute I tought the dog was going to sing to be honest. The presence of stars like Cameron Diaz, Rihanna and Sia (with awkward cameos) brings some points to watch this film. But when you make a movie you need to show that, a movie, not a musical even thought it was based on the original musical, the central theme of the story disappears when you are watching it and being interrupted by a random moment when a starring role is singing. I admit that the soundtrack is good and renovated, but the soundtrack it's the soundtrack, you can't put the whole thing in a movie and lose the story that way. In the other hand the visuals and the acting was very good with so much quality.

Too much pedo vibe for me Jamie Foxx. Casting of this movie was way off no one fit their roles. Also did anyone receive music or vocal training I know Foxx cant sing but really there has to be the current cast of any production of Annie around to do this. Or it could be these types of stories cant be done in modern times without being creepy.
