An enjoyable slap stick comedy. This isn't anywhere as near as bad as the critics have made it out to be. I guess seeing it alone as a critic probably kills the atmosphere. I saw it with my kids at the cinema, and apart from the moment when some chav in the audience answered her mobile half way through, had a good time.

It was funny how Ice Cube went on all the talk shows with his "Are We There Yet?" t-shirt on. The movie on the other hand was sh.t.

No complex storylines to suck the enjoyment out of it. Plain and simple entertainment.

This movie is really funny at parts. One of the parts that was funny was when Ice cube was taking the kid to the ladies bath room and he was making the kid pee in the sink, and then a lady came and starting hitting ice cube with her purse, and ice cube turned around witht the kid and the kid starting peeing on the woman. The acting in the movie was no great. I mean Ice Cube was funny because he is this hardcore rapper(NWA) and he is playing a guy who babysits some kids. Expand

This movie was actually a lot worse than I thought it was going to be (and I didn't have high hopes to begin with). Ice Cube is an effortless performer (I wouldn't say actor, since he more or less plays variations on his own personality) and he's always fun to watch, even in pure crap like "All About the Benjamins" and "Friday After Next". The same cannot be said about the two kids in the movie. They are really horrible and the movie actually makes you want to kill these brats. The way they act and how the screenwriters justify it (oh no...their daddy doesn't live with them!) doesn't really add up for me. These kids act like monsters for no reason and even in the end when they get kidnapped by a crazy truck driver (don't ask) I was hoping the guy would keep the kids and leave Cube alone. Terrible script + stale, overloud direction = crap. Expand

Director Brian Levant's best movie, The Flintstones, was instantly notorious in 1994 for having over thirty screenwriters. Too bad he apparently couldn't scrape up ONE screenwriter for this annoying, allegedly family-friendly Home Alone/ Planes, Trains and Automobiles clone in which single mom Nia Long's two utterly obnoxious kids (Aleisha Allen, Philip Bolden) try every trick in the book to drive her latest potential boyfriend (Ice Cube) both crazy and out of her life. The first two minutes say it all and set the tone; I hated the sadistic slapstick of the Home Alone pictures but realized that Macaulay Culkin was at least semi-legitimately justified in defending his home. As for these two...well, I recently watched the Ramones documentary End of the Century, but even if I hadn't, I'm sure their song "Beat on the Brat" would've run through my head at least a few times while watching this. Jokes about post 9/11 airport security searches and child abductions add to the movie's tasteless air; it warrants a 3 only because Ice Cube manages to emerge from this dreck with a performance that's as likable and engaging as his work in the Barbershop movies...and, I guess, because any movie that features the Negro Baseball League great Satchel Paige in a respectful running gag can't be ALL bad. Still, if your kids insist on renting this, insist even harder on renting (or better yet, buying) any Pixar film. They'll thank you for it...and more importantly, you'll thank yourself! Expand

Vulgar, culturally bereft, and worst of all, harmful to black culture. Those involved with this poorly written, family-inappropriate piece of trash should be ashamed. Beyond being tried for crimes against cinema, they should also be charged with selling out their race for a buck.

The critics made it sound horrible while in reality, it's not that bad. The cheesyness kind of killed the film but it was still hilarious!

Pretty good movie. I expected it to be about a 3, but the movie was funny! I saw it with my daughters, and it was pleasantly surprising. We all enjoyed it, and it had a heartwarming ending. Don't be fooled- watch the movie with your kids, and you'll be entertained. btw, the acting was pretty good. the fake crying from the boy needed some work, but all in all- they all were good actors.

Was okay. Not the funniest movie I ever seen, but it's worth a watch (if you have a family).

It has a few heart-warming moments, but that is all to recommend. This movie just feels so low budget. It has a scattery story that doesn't make a lot of sense.

Are We There Yet? traps the affable Ice Cube in a dismal kiddy slapstick saga that even his considerable charisma can do little to enhance.
  2. 0
All too effectively conveys the claustrophobic horror of being shackled in a small space with two whiny, hateful children.
  3. 40
Levant and his screenwriting posse attempt to wring maximum hilarity from this setup, but it's just too schizoid.
