A good-looking debut offering more atmosphere than action.
Admirable and respectable, it engages you while you’re watching it, then leaves you empty and wanting more.
This is a modestly-scaled and exceptionally crafted independent film that is genuinely invested in its characters.
Big Significant Things is a cute idea in search of substance.
Its anodyne tastefulness effectively lumps it into a big vat of likeminded Sundance-or-SXSW-endorsed offerings.
It’s as hard for us to get invested in his journey as it is for the film to find a narrative foothold.
Reisberg assumes we'll believe that in "real life" (as in, when he's not deceiving anyone about his whereabouts) Craig isn't this selfish, but watching him lie, cheat on his girlfriend, and enthusiastically provide beer to teenagers says otherwise.
