  • Summary: In Bollywood/Hollywood, a fun loving romp of a movie, the unpredictable is the only constant. After all, life isn't about what's right or wrong. It's about following your heart. (Mongrel Media)

  1. Mehta's feisty, featherweight romantic comedy makes the case that even the most flamboyant cinematic conventions are as universal as they are exotic, especially when they conspire to produce that glow of happily ever after.
  2. 70
Will prove infectious to those audiences who find themselves sharing the director's frivolous frame of mind.
  3. Fabulous idea/faulty execution is the review.
  4. 40
Though occasional flashes of the radiantly bi-cultural romp that might have been peek through, writer-director Deepa Mehta's hybrid is strangely clumsy, given that she's an experienced filmmaker familiar with both Hollywood and Bollywood conventions.
  5. 38
The average Bollywood routine is passionately cheesy. This movie seems cursed with a lactose intolerance.
  6. 30
Disappointingly shallow and not terribly funny romantic comedy.
  7. Too amateurish to lampoon or evoke either film industry, Bollywood/Hollywood is a movie that owes its presence in theaters to a certain ethnic soccer comedy still circulating like a virus.

But then as things slow down and the music turns up, it gets feisty, funny and joyous. The storyline is about Rahul Seth who is looking for a girl to marry. When he meets a white, beautiful girl named Kimberly who is a pop star- Rahul ignites her into relationship, but forgot a rule that was his oath to his father on his deathbed- indian only! When Rahul shows the girl to his parents, they are not satisfied and insult Kimberly that she has to change her religion. Kimberly refuses and leaves Rahul and then the search goes on... When she dies in a freak accident to surprise Rahul with yoga, Rahul is broken and leaves his search for an Indian girl. When his mother tells him that his sister's marriage will be broken if he doesn't look for a girl- Rahul refuses but then when Twinky tells him that she is pregnant- Rahul goes on for the search... When Rahul meets a spanish, crazy, lovely, party type girl in a club named Sue, he makes up a plan to make the girl a camaflouge to tell his parents that he is ready to marry with Sue and leave her after Twinky's Sangeet. Rahul paid good money to Sue and goes on with his story. But when the twist comes in and Sue really jazzes up the family's life, Rahul thinks that Sue is indian and finds out her really identity- Sunita Singh, when they fall in love crazy stuff happens. Watch what impact this has on the big lie to Rahul's family and Sue. Also their relationship. Deepa Mehta's crazy storyline makes me want to watch B/H again and again. Sweet, fun to watch but also unrelenting in parts as well. Lisa Ray and Rahul Khanna rock and both are sweet together. Every time I watch this film it gets better- smart, funny and full of Indian values, B/H is a MUST watch this season. Expand
