Starts with such promising quirkiness that it's easy to forget for the moment that you are watching a teen comedy.
  3. Turns into an amusing showcase for two of Hollywood's most appealing young actors.
  4. A likably thoughtful romantic comedy.

    It's not that I don't like it. It's that I don't care.
  7. It's nothing if not predictable.
  8. Watching this film is a little like wallowing in warm surf with soft pop music wafting in the breeze.

As the couple stand on the bluffs overlooking San Francisco Bay, you may find yourself wishing Forlani would push Prinze in.
  10. Prinze and Forlani coast on charisma alone, but even their charms can't coax magic from the prosaic dialogue and romantic clichés that clog this listless comedy.
  11. An adolescent romance that isn't smart enough to mirror "When Harry Met Sally" or crudely amusing enough to get close to "American Pie."
  12. The material is familiar, the Berkeley locations are strictly boilerplate, and there are times when the characters seem more like high school students than college kids.
  13. Stays firmly, depressingly, inside the lines.

May be among the most excruciating mainstream movies to spew forth from Hollywood in years.
  19. There are episodes of "Rugrats" with stronger sexual suspense.
  20. Designed to appeal to people who thought "She's All That" was too mentally demanding.
  21. A paint-by-numbers romantic comedy, but without the heart or laughs to make it work.

It's insulting and devalues the experience of watching not just this film but all films.

Calling Boys and Girls the year's worst movie makes it sound more entertaining than it actually is.
  26. This ill-fitting movie was mail-ordered from an out-of-date catalog of teen-com stereotypes.
