Bubba Ho-Tep is not only one of the most original ideas ever put to screen, but it is also the funniest movie to come out in years. The plot follows Elvis, who didn't really die, just swapped places with an imposter who also happened to be addicted to drugs, and a black JFK who hunt down a mummy at a west Texas nursing home. The plot is, of course, deeper than that, everything with how Elvis got there to why JFK is black is filled with extremely hilarious bits of dialogue and funny moments. Although I am not the biggest fan of sick and stupid humor, I found myself attracted to this film's use of it. The movie is kind of slow, but it is intentional, seeing how everyone is old and in a retirement home. The film also had a message somewhere in the middle of all the jokes, a message of lost identity, but if you missed it it really wouldn't effect your outcome of the film, because this movie is hil-freakin'-larious. The ending battle with the mummy is just great. I highly reccomend this movie to almost everyone. Expand

Loved it! Campbell gave an inspired perfomance and Davis, as always, shines. Funny, touching.. lovingly twisted. Unique!

Awesome movie filled with one-liners and a bit of soulfulness. A great B movie. I went to see a screening of it and met Bruce Campbell who is an amazingly down to Earth guy and very talented. Very entertaining and very funny the only way this could be perceived as a bad movie is by over-analyzing it.

I can bet that you've never seen a movie like this and you'll never will. Bubba Ho-Tep I a fairytail discuised as a horror movie. At times unbelivebly funny. At times very touching. The acting is just great, Especially by Campbell and Davis. This is a movie made with love and dedication! And if you're a horror, drama, comedy or storrytelling fan, you'll enjoy it even more. I'll definetly see it again in the future! Expand

Cult fave Bruce Campbell gives a wonderful performance as an aging Elvis Presley, living out his not-so-golden years in a sleepy Texas retirement home. Along with fellow resident JFK (wonderfully played by the great Ossie Davis), the King is called upon to fight a particularly nasty Mummy who lives by feeding off the souls of the living. Whether you're a horror fan, an Elvis freak, or a fan of the offbeat, this is a hilarious and weirdly poignant effort from auteur Don Coscarelli (Phantasm, The Beastmaster.) Expand

The plot sounded so rediculous I had to try it once. Boy am I gald I did. This was a touching soul retreiving from out of the gutter movie. Wiith all the horror kept at enough of a low level it was easy to see what the characters were about. Oh and Campbell as Elvis-GENIUS!!!!

Outrageous plot. Crazy characters. Delicious dialogue. How could you not love this movie? Although it is not very scary (for a horror film, that is), it sure is entertaining. Don't rent it, buy it. You won't be sorry.

Bubba Ho-Tep was one of the slowest movies I've ever seen!! (I saw it instead of Kill Bill....mistake). It had just a tiny slice of that Army of Darkness kind of humor, but it was set in a rest home and felt exactly like one.....

Touching story, original concept artistically executed. Low Budget, but not really looking it. A '10' for proving that money doesn't take it all! Congrats to the Coscarelli and his cast!

This movie was amazing. Not really a horror movie, but it had some great elements. And the acting was top notch from everyone, especially Campbell and Davis. A top notch film in all respects, and the musical score for the movie is amazing as well. I need that CD now!

What "Bubba Ho-Tep" leaves unanswered, is what gives this film its sad context. Priscilla, Lisa-Marie, his father, and anybody that The King associated with, knew that Sebastian Haff was a replacement, and respected Presley's wishes to be left alone. But after twenty-plus years following Haff's death on a Graceland toilet, you can see on Presley's face that nobody went looking for him. Mum is the word because this conspiracy allowed a lot of people to make money off his death and legacy. What looks like cheap jokes(the growth on "Little Elvis") at Elvis' expense, can be construed as the very real humiliations of a lonely man. Bruce Campbell's dead-on impression of Presley is somewhat wasted by all that Egyptian mummy nonsense, because all that old man-angst could've been used to indict an America for its cold-hearted jokes about his weight and drug use. My feeling is that nobody expected a B-movie actor like Campbell to be this good; so good that he helps transcend a silly cult film-wanna be into respectability, while making you wish they had attempted a serious mounting of this attractive "What if?" scenario. Nevertheless, you can't accuse "Bubba Ho-Tep" of lacking an imagination. Expand

Bruce Campbell takes care of business as Elvis. This film assumes no pretense...Elvis, JFK & The Mummy. Pass the peanut butter and 'nanner sandwiches, please.

Considering what this film is about, Elvis and JFK battling a mummy in an old-age home...the film somehow works. It is no classic, but there is something that gets under your skin and makes you just care about these fellas. It's a horror/comedy/whatever with heart, anchored by an amazing performance by Mr Bruce Campbell.

Wonderfully understated, gently bizarre. It isn't at all a "joke" comedy, the humor really hits about 1/2 way through when you suddenly ask yourself what the hell you are seeing.

Mismatched marriage of offbeat character study and unimaginative horror riffs. Most compelling element by far is Bruce Campbell's inspired performance as a nursing home patient who insists he is the real Elvis Presley.
