Dumb, Over the top, comic book, this film isn't going to win any art direction oscar or a best actor nomination. But with a title like Bulletproof Monk who expected the Pianist?? fUN

I thought it was fascinating to watch Chow Yun-Fat take on comedy. It was like Remo Williams or the Golden Child done like we would have wanted them done. I would/will see it again, and probably buy the DVD too.

Yes, the movie is light-hearted action fare -- it's supposed to be. Unfortunately, It goes wrong when it tries too hard to set up a big, dramatic finish. The supernaturally powerful Monk is far too easily captured at Jade's mansion and then all but devoid of power while in the clutches of Mr. Evil Nazi and his brain-sucking, water-powered, computerized torture racks! I was shaking my head at how stupid that part was. But the rest was fairly satisfying in both content and style. (The "obvious" plot hole of not simply destroying the scroll was not a problem for me. I understood the reasoning behind that.) Expand

This movie couldn't be worse if it tried. Seann William Scott couldn't be more annoying. The only positive thing I can say about this movie is that Chow Yun-Fat is amazingly cool. Watching Chow standing on top of the car w/ two guns made me remember his glory, but the rest of the movie was just trash. This is in the bottom 10 movies ever made. The fact that this movie makes every possible wrong turn is amazing. I'm offened by how bad this movie is, I'm offended for Chow and I'm most of all offended by seeing Seann William Scott in New York. The only place that California trash could survive is in Malibu, on the beach, baby. I hope I see Seann in hell before I see him in New York again. Expand

The plot sucks ass but we're not suppose to go see these movies to enjoy plots. We're suppose to enjoy the action. The action is suppose to compensate for the plot, but the action in this movie wasn't good enough to make the movie great. Some of the stuff was funny, but it's nothing you haven't seen before. And it seemes all these chinese themed movies have sacred scrolls. Expand

Metascore 39? Wow! Metacritic.com is getting quite generous these days! I can't believe you gave this film a better score the The Majestic! Bulletproof Monk makes no sense and poor Chow Yun Fat struggles to speak clearly during the whole film! S W Scott managed to make me smile once or twice though, he was by far the best thing in this mess of a movie!

Wow. I havent seen a plot this simple since.... well a very long time. This movie operates under the assumption, that if one great thing is good, then a movie about four great things will be better. It tries to combine the action and zen of Crouching Tiger, the Nazis and World domination of Raiders of the Lost arc, the Buddy Comedy of Shanghai Noon, and the Special Effects of the Matrix. All it does is become a tired predictable plot that unsuccesfully steals plot elements of every great movie within the past twenty years. The ONLY reason i would reccomend it is to see the crime boss Mr. FUNKTASTIC. A character so unrealistic he is hilarious. Expand

I was entertained by the movie, although I thought it was too serious. It would have been better as a comedy. I also wish Chow Yun-Fat had more fight scenes. He did not end up being the hero. Kar did, who, in movies like this, the character is usually a tag-along and in this case, he became the big hero. I thought the plot was descent. The acting was also good, and the action scenes were good. Unfortunately, Chow Yun-Fat barely got to hurt anyone. Overall, simply good. Kind of realistic, but good. Expand

I've seen worse. Most of the action scenes are pretty good. Most of the dialogue is pretty bad. How Chow Yun-Fat got snookered into doing a movie like this amazes me. Unless of course, he really needed the money.

While overall it was a fail, There were parts in the film that I did enjoy. The cast was ok, The action was alright. It was a rather generic action film but it was some what enjoyable.

Sadly, it's yet another intercultural mishmash that hopes for its iconic star's charisma to overcome a dire script, cardboard characters, indifferently directed action scenes, and an atrocious villain buried under layers of unconvincing old-man makeup.

Action star Chow Yun-Fat's latest is as thin as the buzz cut he sports in Bulletproof Monk.

The fight scenes in Bulletproof Monk are not as inventive as some I've seen (although the opening fight on a rope bridge is so well done that it raises expectations it cannot fulfill).
