"Camp" annoyed me when Vlad's orientation grows ambiguous at the end because Graff is saying that no straight guy could like showtunes. He shatters, then reinforces the stereotype. Why? He was fine as a womanizer. It's his character whose clunkiness isn't endearingly clunky like the other characters. Try as you might, the overweight girl's cathartic moment will move you. "Camp" is not very good and yet there's no movie currently playing in my region that I'd rather see again, more. It's Don Dixon. It's what they did with a Victoria Williams song. It's "The Ladies Who Lunch". It's a big heart, that's what it is. But be warned, the director needs to go to camp too. Filmmaking camp. Expand

This "film" was the worst film I've ever seen, with a cliche story line and a terrible scrpt, it's 2 hours of my life I'm not going to get back.

I loved the premise of this movie, but the final production was less than satisfactory. The musical theatre numbers were fantastic, "Ladies Who Lunch" was especially notable. However, there was something missing. Sorry to be so vague, but I came away from the movie wanting something more (and not in a good way). To be fair, the actors did a splendid job, but the movie itself just left me unsatisfied. Expand

Explores the subject of non-traditional sexuality of teens in a constructive and conscientious manner. Could have been more compelling without the "boy meets girl" standard story line distracting from all of the other interesting characters.

Now I'm not some professional movie critic, or anything. And I'm not one of those people, who watches movies, and picks them apart. But, when I watched Camp, (clique coming soon) I felt...good!!! And the music makes you want to go watch your favorite musical. (which isn't a bad thing) I think, most people go to movies, expecting every movie to be Casablanca!!! But Camp, is nowhere near Casablanca, which makes it insanely unique. I suggest people watch this movie, on a rainy saturday, and just enjoy the fuck out it. Expand

This movie was perfect for those in theatre. It shows the struggles of teens in theatre and adds comedy to it!

This Movie is well presented and is much in the Idol Format. It explores diffrent forms of sexuality and how others respond to it.

Good fun, especially the musical numbers, but the acting and writing are often times very awkward. it's very evident when the film attempts to develop its one-dimensional characters that this is a first feature from writer/director Todd Graff.

I loved this movie. It shows that you can be yourself, thats a great message for todays youth. Plus it shows that no ones life is perfect.

I loved this movie for what it says You really kinda just have to look past the movie's medial acting-ironic as they're at musical theater camp. But it just has such a strong message about being yourself and being loved for it. Did anyone else shake when Jenna sang at the end of the movie?

The film's examination of confused sexuality, psychic scars and unsupportive parents never moves a step beyond cliche.
  2. A fresh, young energetic cast is this wobbly musical comedy's main claim to "Fame."

Camp is self-conscious when the teens aren't singing, but the quote marks fall away as soon as they lift their voices.
