  • Summary: On the 29th of November 2002, one year to the day that George Harrison left us, his closest friends gathered at the Royal Albert Hall to celebrate his life in the only way they knew how - by playing his music.

  1. The jamboree is beautifully shot and directed, by Chris Menges and David Leland respectively, and there is a haunting touch: the presence of George’s son, Dhani, on guitar, looking near-identical to his dad in his twenties.
  2. The sweet, solemn music of George Harrison, who died two years ago, has rarely sounded more majestic than in the sweeping performances of the enlarged star-studded band that gathered in London at Royal Albert Hall on Nov. 29 to commemorate his legacy.

It provides both deep musical pleasures and a touching farewell to the former Beatle.

Anyone who remembers Harrison fondly will enjoy this musical tribute, though it assumes a level of familiarity with Harrison's associates that not all viewers will have.

It's possible that there are other concerts equally well played and filmed, but it's hardly possible that there could be one better, so this can be the bench mark for a 10. The performances are astonishing. Eric Clapton's solo on While My Guitar Gently Weeps is to cry for. (He played the solo on the original song too, so who better to play it here.) Collapse
