    Watching Cowboy del Amor is like sitting in a room with someone who's making funny racist cracks; you can't help but laugh, but you feel sullied by the implicit collusion. For that reason, the film tips over into the camp of tragedy. Or if it is a comedy, it's the Shakespearean kind, where the marriages at the end are utterly unsettling.

    It's both a compliment and a criticism to say that Michèle Ohayon's scrappy documentary ends much too quickly. Every moment of this story - about America's unlikeliest matchmaker - is fascinating. We just need more of them.

    The critics have read way too much into this man. This movie will at times make you wish that you could have been there to gain more insight and to see Mr. Thompson behind the scenes. I do not belive that he was strickly seeing women as commodities, he is just pragmatic. Find 2 marriage minded people and introduce them to each other in a matter of a few days. (and of course charge the fee) Mr Thompson must be sincere, since he is willing to take a 22+ hour trip with his customers in the process.… Full Review »
