  • Summary: Charlie (Murphy) and Phil (Garlin) are so consumed by their high profile advertising jobs that they are completely missing out on the joys of fatherhood. In the family comedy Daddy Day Care, however, their kids provide them with a crash course in child rearing, with uproarious and heartwarming results. (Sony) Expand

  1. A harmless and amusing summer comedy.
  2. Murphy inhabited Jif like a sweet, innocent child, almost as though he were delighted to shed the cynicism and get down to the sweet, chewy center. Or day-care center, in this case.
  3. Reviewed by: Ed Park
Lighthearted if shy of a lark.
  4. Murphy gives one of his more-restrained performances, which suits the mood of carefully contained mayhem established by Steve Carr, the director.

Feels like a movie cribbed together from outtakes of other hapless Hollywood comedies -- rejected scenes where the line readings fell flat, the chemistry expired or the adult actors couldn't wipe the "get this brat away from me" scowl from their faces.
  6. Though topnotch actors often can elevate mediocre material, they need a topnotch director to help them do it. Steve Carr ("Dr. Dolittle 2") is not that director.
  7. I laughed a couple of times, but mostly I was bored out of my mind and not a little depressed.

How is this movie hated so much? It was original and it was pretty funny as well. I must have watched it a dozen times. I am suprised that the ratings are so low for it. Collapse

There is still a faint memory of when Eddie Murphy was funny. It was the 80s and the 90s. Trading places, Beverly Hills Cop and Coming to America.
  4. May 3, 2012
This family-friendly movie has a few funny moments, but it has an awkward story and some parts are just plain gross.
  5. Nov 12, 2012
A fart filled farce bereft of the least amount of imagination.

Like the universal motto for the war against drugs, "Just say no" to this crash-and-burn Eddie Murphy movie. It is disgustingly horrible, abysmal, and unfunny. Steer clear. Expand
