  • Summary: The wild 60s: Munich teen Uschi Obermaier drives men wild, but also confuses them with her assertive demeanor. When she moves into the legendary Berlin ‘Kommune 1’ she begins a relationship with the leader Rainer Langhans. There she runs through a whirlwind of relationships and rises to become a coveted supermodel and icon of the young generation. When she meets the charismatic adventurer Dieter Bockhorn, who controls Hamburg’s red-light district, they set off together in search of the summer of eternal love. But times are changing and their dropout idealism is short-lived as Dieter cannot come to terms with Uschi’s desire for independence. Uschi finds herself faced with an existential question: what is the price of freedom? (Uber Die Produktion) Expand

  1. 63
The movie presents the surfaces of Obermaier's life but never lets us understand who she was.
  2. 50
    Deliciously dumb, reasonably well-made.
  3. The film's tone is utterly indistinct, beyond fatuous adoration of its subject.
  4. 38
Has little to offer beyond titillation and pretty landscapes.
  5. 30
German supermodel Uschi Obermaier slept with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, and all we get is this lousy biopic.
  6. Reviewed by: Sam Adams
If the movie had greater style, it might approach the delirious badness of "The Valley Of The Dolls," but it's too dull to qualify as camp.
  7. Reviewed by: Michelle Orange
Stoned on the story's '60s-sex-bomb potential, Bornhak piles on the sex and forgets the bomb; the result is unaffecting filmmaking, as slack-jawed and superficial as its subject.
