It's sad that there's so many talented comedians like the guys from Mr. Show and Upright Citizens Brigade, and they're hardly known. What makes that even sadder is that David Spade gets to be a lead actor in the movies, David Cross in his brief scenes in Eternal Sunshine was funnier then anything in this movie.

It was so predictable, like the bunny and the marriage.

I really enjoyed the movie. It was hilarious, it had a nice plot, and got sentimental without seeming too sentimental. I wish the ending was a little different, but it was still a happy ending. A great movie. Very few complaints.

David Spade should give up starring in movies and just do supporting work, he's much better suited there.

Honestly, the worst movie I have ever seen. Love comedy but this movie missed by a mile.

I was REALLY suprised at this movie. I honestly didn't think I was going to like it one bit. But I decieded to see it anyway, since David Spade was in it and I needed to see a comedy. I expected there to be nothing but bathroom humor. WRONG. While much of it was slapstick, there was a healthy dose of some clever humor (the cuss words played a huge part of this) that cracked me up. I was also suprised that it had a heartwarming-bonding theme in there. Where "Uptown Girls" severely failed at doing this, "Dickie Roberts" didn't; thankfully. Yes, there are some corny moments ("Stranger-Danger"), but it didn't ruin the enjoyment of the film. While this isn't one I'd want to see again, it definetly beats some of the lame, disappointing films that this summer had too much of. Expand

"Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star" just might have the best end credits scene of-all-time. It's hysterical, surreal, and moving. The first former child star(who shall remain nameless) who solos encapsulates the angst of being a has-been during her twenty seconds of catharsis better than Spade does in the entire movie. David Spade and Rob Schneider both have no business headlining a feature film, but at least the "copy-guy" is likable. The dramatic scenes have no chance of working because the lead is so unsympathetic. This same premise should be done as an indie with a real-life child star. Expand

Surprisingly Funny for a David Spade movie. I enjoyed it Very much. Happy Madison did a very good job, and I loved the ending.

This movie was down-right stupid. I am sick of Hollywood writing "demographically targeted" loads of crap that are suppossed to appeal to everybody but actually appeal to noone. And the worst part is that I walked out at the sappy ending, and now I hear that the closing credits were the best part of the movie ?! Damn...

It was funny, entertaining, and still had a moral at the end... Thats what a good comedy should be.

mildley funny but extremley predictable . the cameo apperiances by the former child stars felt more sad then any thing . spade does a so-so job carrying the film . all in all its some thing you would wach on tv or HBO. nothing much more then that,

A good movie in the end do to it's morals it teaches, but not the best comedy, granted it's funny during most parts but some scenes feel unnecessary and unfunny, the most funny scenes are when he's being crude and vulgar, and the unfunny ones when he's not, which unfortunately most of the time he's not, but the heartfelt moments (while predictable) make this worth the watch because they teach you something, and the song at the end credits is hilarious, honestly it's not the best movie but manages to provide a good lesson and some genuine laughs out there, all in all if you like Happy Madison's other movies you'll probably like this, just don't expect greatness. 1. When the movie's not playing stupid, it's aiming for sickly sweet sincerity. It's such a jarring and inevitably juvenile juxtaposition it comes off like a Hallmark card parody written by the staffers at "Cracked."
  2. The number of levels on which these pros trade on their diminished reputations makes the movie an inside joke rather than a funny one. If Spade thinks otherwise, he's nucking futs.
