Comes across as more of an extravagant gesture than a fully realized artistic conceit.
Von Harder ought to have placed his bold mission on the ground; seeing the actual streets where this prolonged oppression unfolded would help generate his intended dread.
Though on paper the idea has some potential -- as a historical meditation on the suffering of East Berliners and the arbitrary nature of borders -- its execution stumbles on multiple fronts.
