Jan 28, 20128Of course most of the critics would hate it. Way to crass and common for the cerebral crowd. But I loved it's spirit and broad humor. The two main leads were fabulous, as was the soundtrack. Sure it was a little corny and stereotyped, but it wasn't aiming for an Oscar, just a lot of laughs and a few tears. Definitely worth a watch.

Feb 7, 20128Okay, high user score and low critic score. So what gives? The critics just have very bad taste. It really is that simple. I am shocked that it got such poor critic ratings. This is a great movie, so much fun and very offbeat. Screw the critics, see this movie!

Mar 7, 20129Amazing film. Witty and funny all the way through as well as emotionally charged. I loved the whole thing and would recommend it to anyone. A************

50Dirty Girl isn't. Sorry, but it's just faux grime, a thin layer of bad behaviour that wipes clean with a two-ply tissue to reveal the real movie beneath – all shiny sentimentality.

30Writer-director Abe Sylvia slathers on the cartoonish characterization and neon-colored '80s pop - Benatar! Joan Jett! The Outfield! - for an easy-bake mood-setting, which is tedious enough. But his attempts at situational humor on the road - including a stripping scene for Dozier as coming-out metaphor - fall embarrassingly flat.

25Sorry, but if your sensibility is pure trashy camp, don't expect anyone not to laugh when you try to be earnest.
