Gould’s lugubrious presence is always welcome, and Rue plays her lovelorn part with verve.
The film's moral lesson is too contradictory to be taken seriously.
Features a winning performance by Sara Rue as its titular heroine but otherwise has little to recommend it. Playing a wallflower who blossoms when she finally meets the right guy, the actress has charm to spare.
Brad Leong's comedy has some nicely miserable character beats.
Brad Leong’s “quirky” romantic comedy retreads ground that is already so well worn, everyone just slides right through.
Even as Deb comes to embrace the vibrancy of urban life, she's still prey to a blinkered suburban viewpoint which becomes inscribed in the film itself.
Tedious effort.
