Funny, original, and clever. To me, it was a cross between Fargo and There's Something About Mary. I hope whoever had marketed this film was fired, because it should have been a hit!

What the hell is this doing in the "All-Time Lowest Scores" list? It's not a bad film at all, though it doesn't quite run with the concept as it should. But come on. Worse films happen at sea. Like "Boat Trip".

Underrated. The reception of this movie is a perfect example of how less-than-bright, thin-skinned, lily-livered critics destroy perfectly enjoyable movies because they don't like people being "mean" or because the characters aren't "likable." This film is careful to establish its tone from the beginning and never backs down from it: it is viciously satirical, but it is viciously satirical from start to finish without ever backing down. And still it manages to have poignant moments--due mostly to great acting, especially from Barken, Janney and Alley. A thoroughly enjoyable and hilarious film--I'm just sorry I had to wait til it ended up in a box of VHS tapes a friend was selling in a garage sale before I saw it. Expand

A lot of this movie is very poorly written with unfunny so-called "jokes" that leave very talented actors like Allison Janney and Kirsten Dunst adrift and make the entire enterprise feel like a "Fargo" also-ran. But when it works, it works like gangbusters Denise Richards' song to Jesus and the "Soylent Green" monologue are worth the price of rental. And Brittany Murphy's fizzy energy gives the film a big lift. And the ending may be contrived but it feels right. Less obvious (or better written) midwestern hick jokes might have made this a more respectable viewing, but as such it's a perfectly acceptable guilty pleasure. Expand

Just because small-town beauty pageants are an easy target doesn't mean that a movie satirizing them won't be pants-wettingly funny. Kirsten Dunst is the sweet, hardworking, trailer-dwelling beauty with an alcoholic mom played hilariously by Ellen Barkin. Denise Richards is the evil rich princess who is pushed by her former-beauty-queen mom (Kirstie Alley) into the town pageant. The ending does drag on a bit, but it's all in over-the-top good fun. Don't let the bad reviews scare you away, unless you have a medical condition that makes it dangerous to laugh. Expand

I love this movie. It makes me laugh every time I watch it. It doesn't matter that it isn't Oscar worthy or every critics favorite. Sometimes movies are just about entertainment. And this movies is hysterical. Besides, you gotta love the mid-western accent.

People tend to overlook the fact that this movie isn't suppose to be dramatic, its not suppose to take itself seriously. Its suppose to be funny. And that's exactly what it is. If there is a soul in your body, you will laugh.

Even though it is now 6 years old this film is still bitingly funny. Ignore the critics reviews and judge for yourself. You will find yourself chuckling all they way!

This is a genuinely unique and funny movie. Rarely does a story line just let loose and go for the gold ring - okay, maybe a rubber ring in this case. But like other outrageous movies that have enjoyed great love from their fans, this one is stays on it's satirical theme on every level. From personal relationships, corporate advertising, eco-socio status - they rip it all up, with unique flair and intenstity. A gread movie! Expand

Genuinely hysterical. Shows the true schtick that pagents are. Anyone who doesnt like this film is far too uptight. It's a COMEDY. Mockumentaries are usually taken too seriously. This film is wonderful, original and, sadly, underrated. I laughed til I hurt. One of my all time faves - a gem.

One of the freshest funnies in a long time. The mockumentary style even seems to mock itself, whenever it can't slap the face of every beauty contest there ever was. Dunst's girl next door is perfect, Richards' bitch-brat is spot-on, and Kirstie Alley' vile mom/organizer is devastatingly funny. Alison Janney and Ellen Barkin dish out the humour pretty well, also. You can watch it every day for a week and still wind up laughing most, if not all, the way through. Expand

Although sometimes harsh, it is quite funny with its' light offhandish mood and quick pace. from the first minute i was captivated and charmed by the naiveness of everyone in the film.

The script must have been a funny read. It's the movie that somehow never achieves takeoff speed.

Broad, obvious and thuddingly unfunny, Drop Dead Gorgeous makes almost every previous "mockumentary" look like a work of genius.
