  1. Howard has a wonderful touch with actors, and almost all of them here have their moments. [26 March 1999, Friday, p.A]
  2. EDtv is precisely the kind of brisk, straightforward, amiable and accessible material that shows Howard’s skills to advantage.
  3. The screenplay, by Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel, based on a French film, has enough sharp gags and plot twists to sustain it, with an ending that manages to be nice.
  4. 50
Neither a revelation nor a total wash, EDtv is instead solid comic filmmaking. I just can't help but think it could have been so much more.
  5. The laserdisc of media movies - it plays fine, but it's clunky and cumbersome.

Howard and his writers are so in love with their own hip self-consciousness that it's a wonder they don't feature film critics discussing their movie.
  7. But it's also Howard's and his audience's misfortune that a good time can be had by all only if nothing of substance gets said.

Ed TV has non stop laughs and a terrific cast. All the actors complement one another and they have many
scenes together. Ed gets his life
shown on television every day for 16 hours. The show is beneficial but
also a drawback because he doesn't want the attention. There are surprises in the movie that will entertain
and amuse you for 2 hours. Overall a very amusing and realistic comedy-drama.

Edtv is a clever amusing comedy-drama from Ron Howard. Ed works at a video store and his life gets broadcast on TV 16 hrs a day. The scenarios in the movie are funny and touching. Every actor acts well together through the movie. Every actor also puts genuine emotion and wit into their character. Ed TV is hilarious and smart compared to the Truman show. I found that movie very dull and the cast was weak. Watch Ed TV instead of the other movie, you'll thank me it is very memorable and fun. Expand

    mainstream movies Ron Howard has
directed. Ed has touching moments, amusing moments, and
    is a realistic comedy-drama.

Ed TV is an amusing comedy drama. Ed is a regular guy who gets his life televised 16 hours a day.
Hijinks ensue and his family are featured
on the show as well. An excellent cast and storyline make
the movie hilarious. The movie is a clever social satire and shows how television affects society. The
movie also shows how television plays a part in people's daily lives, A+.

Ed is a funny and moving movie where a man encounters fame but rejects it for his usual life.
