The movie "Electra" starts out straight and good, cold as ice. But as it progresses, it gets torn down by terrible acting from Garner and a dialogue so obvious that you just want to cut their tongues out.

The problem with this movie is it doesn't know what it wants to be. The first half has potential, going the way of an action-drama type film. But after the supervillians come in, it just turns into a dumb superhero film (and not just any dumb superhero film, this one attempts to redefine the meaning of the word dumb). It tries blending the two styles together but it doesn't work, they should have gone with one or the other. Also, while the story in the first half is good, the second half makes no sense and the whole thing just falls apart. The only reason to watch is Jennifer Garner. Expand

Elektra may receive better treatment than other girl superhero movies like Catwoman or Supergirl, but it still lacks a straightforward story and good dialogue.

Difficult story with Elektra, other amazing character, but the film is terrible, the only good parts are the action scenes, but this film have much mistakes. Elektra is terrible.

This movie is not as bad as it has been made out by critics and fans alike. You don't read comics. MARVEL probably should stop treating EVERY property they own as well. Lets stick to the big guns. Elecktra is a second tier character, but the movie at least gives her decent villians to go up against. They have yet to get this right in the Spidey flicks. Terrance Stamp is great as stick and J Garner does her great sullen heroine thing. The problem remains that its Elecktra. She's an assasin. In post 9112005, she and Punisher-like clones has lost all relevance. On the bright side, the FF trailer impressed me, even with the Thing being a short guy in an orange suit. Eight out of ten for the inclusion of Typhoid Mart alone. Ahh... that kiss. Expand

A weak premise to begin with, and Jennifer Garner only drags it down more. Started out well, though, and the action scenes are exceptional. But far to much mystique, and the most likable character in the picture dies halfway through it.

At least we don't have to watch Jennifer Garner brood for "Elektra's" entire running time. Playing mentor to an adolescent girl offers Garner the chance to depart from the taxing chore of portraying underwritten introversion and inner-demon exorcising as signified by a lack of smiling. Garner, who didn't get enough credit for her work on "13 Going on 30", who should've nabbed a Golden Globe nomination in the Best Actress in a Comedy, or Musical category, should probably avoid the Kate Beckinsale route to Geena Davis-like oblivion, and avoid films like "Underworld", like "Elektra", and its ilk. Films like "Elektra" is judged by its special effects, so it must be mentioned that the corporeal tattoos are somewhat arresting. Expand

Go see this movie with the resolve not to be caught in the growing snowball of negativity that people seem to be doling out generously. Energetically paced entertainment with a really cool to watch scene underscoring the dangers of bad kissing resulting in Elektra's near death.

I love Jennifer Gardner. I did not like the movie very much. They did not make me care very much about any character in the moviie. The very first scene was the best. After that her part was kinda bland. I would have rather stayed home and watched another episode of Alias. I want her to be an incredible action movie star. This movie will not be where it happens.

OMG, I've seen many bad super-hero movies, but this one blows all of them away in terms of how horrible movie could be; it tries to be part kill bill, part hulk and ends up being all crap. Avoid this movie at all costs, I'm going to go throw up now.

What is wrong with all the critics. This is one of the best comic-to-bigscreen movies I've seen. It is more mature, and I guess that's why a few people didn't like it. When you go to see this movie, anticipate a almost-spy like experience, not just your average action flick with a lot of special effects (even though it has some pretty cool ones: Tatoo). Before I saw this movie, I wasn't a big jennifer garner fan but now that I have, I am very impressed by her, GO SEE THIS MOVIE. It's great. Expand

Poor pacing and clumsy fight sequences. A silly story with no real focus. The characters fail to interest and the villains aren't given enough screen time. Not as bad as Blade 3 though.

It's a terrible movie, but I give those who made props for trying to make an artsy martial arts movie out of it. But it lacks the one thing that made Daredevil (in my opinion) enjoyable. Daredevil was a gritty action flick. it wasn't Sin City or Batman Begins gritty, but it was still gritty. There was a review that I agreed with most, and it wasn't recorded in metacritc. It was a plasma magazine, saying that it could've been a great, gritty, gory, and R-rated action flick, and it went with fantasy. That, other than the lame effects, action scenes, and performances, is what ruined the movie. Expand

Rob Bowman likes to portray himself as some sort of pioneering elite A-list director. But Elektra is the true Bowman vehicle. It proves he has no taste or originality and that his ego is driven by money alone. A piece of junk. Not even junk food, where it feels good going down and afterwards you feel sick. This is insultingly bad. It's like some bad 80's action movie with 2004 production values, although the movie is still cheap looking so I don't know exactly where the money went (besides Garner's pocket). Maybe it was one of the ten effects houses credited and now one bothered getting competing bids. The effects suck by the way, proving that effects are only as good as their conception. Everyone involved should be ashamed, but who cares since all that are involved are hacks to begin with. Please let this be the end of Superhero movies, fitting since it is the nexus/ black hole of quality. Actually let it end after Superman and Batman Begins. Those have a chance of greatness. That way we end on a good note, but we all know it won't end especially if it's a good note. This is crap. have you gotten the picture yet. As bad as LXG, but this doesn't have Connery. Stamp is a good actor, but he's not Connery (where watching him do anything is pretty much entertainment). Just because one of the five writers that helped write X2 wrote this does not mean it would have been good. The reason X2 was good was because of Singer. He was able to corral good writing out of five people. Rob Bowman is an arrogant hack who ruined Reign of Fire, the only reason that movie is any good is some of the story fought it's way through the piled on crap and poor direction. Sometimesyou can tell when the story was just bastardized on the way to the screen. reign of Fire was one of those. And X-Files was okay, but nothing great. Somehow this guy thinks he was responsible for X-Files since he directed and produced a bunch of episodes. Sorry - wrong. X-Files, sometimes great, sometimes incredibly overrated is all Chris Carter's baby. Bowman didn't write any episodes. So I don't know where his arrogance comes from. Is it from directing that never seen crappy Seth Green comedy from 1993,"Airborne"? Anybody see it? No! Elektra only proves he is only as good as the writing. In fact it proves he is an absolute hack without good writing. Expand

Many of the the reviewers miss some of the aspects to this movie, grading it unusually low. For instance, the visual appeal ranks quite high. Garner is strong and amazing, and admired by the young 'treasure' , otherwise, a youthful, motherless girl. She is perfect as role model for this aspect, yet Electra is haunted by her past, which is telling in a series of flashbacks of well filmed imagary. This adds to the positive ranking of the visual effects. Also the wind-blown white sheets scene was quite artistic, I thought. The fight scenes are engaging with ninja-style 'special' skills displayed. Although these talents may have been over-done, they were very impressive overall. The greatest distraction of the movie was the thin plot. It wasn't terribly impressive in complexity, but the actors all held up their parts convincingly. The blind master did ring of the Kung Fu David Caradine master who always called him grasshopper, but only in his blindness, not his statue or overall function. I think this is acceptable, but does not promote any pluses in my rating. In conclusion, I think this film rates at least a 7.5, so I am being generous with an 8. I was entertained. Expand

This came out during a bad time for Marvel when they were putting out terrible movies like Hulk and Daredevil, while this is the best of them, it's still just a mediocre movie with a bland plot, and bad acting, this is one of those movies that are so bad there good, I'm not really sure if I liked this or not, but if you like Marvel there is a chance you may like this just don't expect greatness.

This film is one of the dumbest spin off films of all time. Its probably the dumbest spin off movie of all time. It takes you from the relative highs of Daredevil to a world so completely different its hard to contrast the two. However the fact that Elektra links to Daredevil in the early moments implies it wants you to think about it. However because they differ so much its almost impossible to enjoy Elektra because its world is so remarkably stupid in comparison, it may be accurate to the comics (I don't really know the source material) but from where I was sitting it was just dumb, lifeless, unengrossing and slow. One of the least effective comic book-to-movie stories to have come along in the past few years. Without a viable screenplay, there's nowhere for the character to go, and no way to avoid making her look silly.
