    Provocative and poignant.
  2. At once a tender love story and a psychological suspense drama that lays bare the acute tensions that threaten to tear apart an upwardly mobile suburban L.A. Chinese American family.
  3. "Soppy" doesn't begin to describe this 2004 drama by Quentin Lee.

    By the time we reach the "Butch Cassidy"-inspired climax, any filaments of credibility still clinging to these characters have completely disappeared.

    Well, I reckon the critics are wrong on this one. An enjoyable movie, with a good cast.

    Some of the moments were a little adolescent; but, then, so they should be, as this is a movie about adolescents, cut loose from the usual family and social supports, looking for love, even when they don't know always how it's defined or always what it is. Expand
