While a movie such as last year's "Like Crazy" let its early promise gradually give way to sun-kissed montages and tedious melodrama, Jackson's mini-indie not only stays the course but also gets better throughout.

The film's sweetness is endearing but too featherweight to engage.

Comes off as formless and inane.

Falling Overnight recalls some of the more annoying entries in the mumblecore subgenre that erroneously believe that every indiscriminate moment in a person's life is worthy of a film regardless of subtext.

Disappointing to see the poor ratings on RT and here. I saw the film based on the recommendation of Michael Vox of the Cinebanter podcast and was not disappointed. A film primarily about being alone that manages to be all things, sweet, funny, sad and life affirming. While the setup makes this different, comparisons to Before Sunrise are still somewhat apt, as like that film, if you've experienced a night like this you will relate, and if you haven't you'll hope that you can. Some will complain about the ending but I think it's left at the right place, with the film achieving what it set out to do. Absolutely worth watching. Full Review »
