  • Starring: Billy Bob Thornton, Dwayne Johnson, Maggie Grace
  • Summary: After 10 years in prison, Driver has a singular focus - to avenge the murder of his brother during the botched bank robbery that led to his imprisonment. Now a free man with a deadly to-do list in hand, he's finally on his mission...but with two men on his trail - a veteran cop just days from retirement, and a young egocentric hitman with a flare for the art of killing and a newfound worthy opponent. The hunter is also the hunted. It's a do or die race to the list's finish as the mystery surrounding his brother's murder deepens, and new details emerge along the way hinting that Driver's list may be incomplete. The film never outshines its influences, but as back-to-basics action filmmaking, it's often superb.

A stripped-down affair, from title to characters to plot. It never strives to be more, instead concentrating on making the most of its self-imposed limitations.

Faster starts to lay on a heavy-handed message about the importance of forgiveness. That isn't what anyone showed up to see.

In Faster, it's a car, not actors, that drives movie.

  1. I don't know what the critics are looking for in movies, but they are way off with this one. This action movie was exciting, violent, full of action, fast cars, and even a few laughs. Most importantly, it was FUN. It's been a while since Dwayne Johnson did a straight up action role, something he is a natural for. Trust me and the other nonprofessional reviewers: this movie is worth it! Expand
  2. Pretty good movie. Dwayne finally gets into another movie that fits him and it turned out to be a great decision. The only downer is the ending, to me that was just plain stupid and unrealistic. The story line was basic but they made it work better then must people would have. Expand
  3. The movie is overall bearable to stand for itself, but the Johnson action and a understandable morale of redemption makes the movie worth to watch.

This review contains spoilers. Uh, the car was cool? I think that they may have taken 3 unfinished screenplays and shuffled them into a single script to create this movie. I like a dumb action movie and will put up with a lot for some cool action sequences but there were entire subplots here that could have been removed without anyone in the audience knowing the difference.
