Good soccer flick, not to mention a guide to an obsessed fan.

If you love football, you'll love it. The book is better, but it's a hard one to adapt for the screen. It's in my top ten movies of all time.

It´s simply the BEST movie ever made about being a football fan. Americans won´t understand.

This is the kind of movie that my Mother would have summed as "a cute show." Not high praise but indicative of its entertainment value, even while acknowledging its faults. The latter include sketch comedy acting, mediocre writing and directing that makes many scenes far too long. Nonetheless, Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore are wonderful together and seem to be having a good time, despite it all. And that is enough to make the whole thing, well, cute. Expand

I love Arsenal and I can't do another thing except to...Love this movie! Every time I see that goal from Micheal Thomas, I stand up and start to exult as Paul and Steve!

Americans do understand, at least this baseball obsessed fan does. This is just a great movie, and I think the critics who don't get it have probably never once in their lives screamed at a sporting event or endured an impossible relationship. Great acting, wonderful script, even a terrific soundtrack. This film's a winner, and should have been released to a wider audience in the U.S. Funny to see that the two most sports oriented NYC dailies gave it glowing reviews. Expand

First let me say that I've seen About A Boy and High Fidelity about 3 times each, so I am a big Hornby fan. However, this movie had nothing going for it. It's a story about a stupid guy (and a woman who was stupid to get involved with him). There's nothing redeeming about it, nothing very funny about it, and it is a *huge* disappointment compared to the two films mentioned above. Don't waste your time. Really. Expand

  1. This frantic tale seems at once preachy and incoherent, collapsing into a more or less random collection of disconnected, unfocused scenes.
  2. If you don't operate on the premise that soccer is the most important thing in the universe, you might not go along with everything in Fever Pitch.

It's an amiable enough picture, and genuinely insightful about the emotional appeal of devoted fandom.
