Critics looked too far into this flick. If they watched with no expectations and an open mind they'd see that the flick is meant to be a cheesy good time, which it is in full. I had a great time watching it and you likely will too if you enjoyed such flicks as Trainspotting or any other dope movie.

Well it isn't Academy award material, but this is a fun and funny movie that never drags and is not too predictable. It may have a lot of cliched situations and characters, but compared to the formulaic dreck it competes with, Formula 51 creates some novel chemistry.

Meat Loaf was the only upset of this movie. He should stick to singing.

I loved the movie. It was quick, witty, and wasn't meant to have a complex theme to it. It was quite funny with the Brittish humor. I dont think that the reviewers were looking at it from an open point of view. It isnt meant to be a drama you twits. Its supposed to be a make you laugh your ass off because of the blatent comedy and dark comedy at hand type movie. I did jus that. GJ to the director. Expand

Yeah, The storyline sucks, but I find its a good laugh over and over because of the stupidity in it. Jackson is fantastic, as always (almost), and no, I can't make out half of what everyone else is saying, but all in all, I thinks its a cool film.

This movie is split in two parts; first one with cool camera, few colorful effects, cheap - still - nice laughs and then sinks into deep sh*t of probable problems with the producer/money. from that moment (uneblievable cliche scene like in an asterix comic - when skinheads filled their pants) the movie gets completely lost; one can even feel samuel being pissed off by product placement (they laugh about it in the movie) and you can even see this great actor naked in the end. pitty, they just didn't knew how to end it... Formula 51 is a classic in it's own right. Its what I refer to as a style film, and Sam Jackson is always great to watch. There is great chemestry beteen him & Robert Carlyle, another favorite of mine. The only character I could have done without was the quote/unquote "female assasin" Dakota...she was fairly useless throughout the movie&only slightly entertaining/watchable. The soundtrack has great tunes, and apparently is impossible to find. There was a guy in here that left the comment "he could'nt understand the accents" You don't need a translator for this film, everyone speaks english fine, I think you are to white my friend. Aside from some of the slang if you are unfamiliar with, the understanding of the average brit, or scott is'nt difficult. I'm American and managed fine. Expand

This has to be one of the crappest comedies I have seen. I live in the UK and the "scouser" stereotype was well overdone. Also the anti-Yank sentiment was well out of order. Also it was really stupid how "F..k" was used in every sentence, come on if it's gonna come down to that at least try to make it funnier than South Park. Also the plot was wafer thin, and most definitely unconvincing. I have to say this is probably Samuel L. Jackson's worst role yet. Expand

Formula 51 is an amazing movie. I think the diorector was right to pick Samuel L. Jackson to cast as Elmo McElroy. He is the greatest actor of all time.

The characters in this movie kick ass. They're so cool. The story was pretty good, and the twists are unpredictable. This movie was exactyly what I hoped it would be.

Very entertaining and funny movie. It wasn't trying to be "Traffic" or anything oscar worthy. Just a fun caper with a hot chick. Can't go wrong there.

This movie did not make me "laugh my ass off." I was looking forward to an intelligent action thriller. The soundtrack was blaringly horrible. I could not understand the accents. The only good part of it is the beginning when we see how he was forced to make his way by creating a different drug. This movie was absolute bollocks.

Man makes "legal high", crime boss wants formula, man goes to England to sell formula, things go wrong. Loud, crass yet entertaining comedy-action film set in and around Liverpool & features a very strong cast. Did come across as a bit of a poor man's "Lock Stock" & does wander into cliché territory now and then but does have a number of funny lines & moments. Stand-outs are definitely Rhys Ifans, Sean Pertwee & Meat Loaf all hamming it up although not sure about Robert Carlyle & Emily Mortimer's Scouse accents. Expand

Too often, Formula 51 fails to differentiate between gleeful excess and white noise.
  2. Passed as slowly as if I'd been sitting naked on an igloo, Formula 51 sank from quirky to jerky to utter turkey.

It is possible, however improbable, that a "bad" movie can still be highly enjoyable. Formula 51 is such a film.
