Clean up the language, and this little roach of a movie could play the bottom half of a double bill with Rowan and Martin's “The Maltese Bippy.” [26 March 1999, Life, p.9E]
Contrasting Forrest's unassuming innocence with the upheavals and rancor of the times, the film is a wisely goofy commentary on the stupidity of smartness.

Forrest Gump is one of the most beautiful stories out there. It's very emotional and I love how we as the audience saw everything through the main character's eyes. This gave the opportunity to show political events without and partiality, which I incredibly like and respect. Tom Hanks gave an amazing performance. The music was really good, the cinematography is outstanding. There were few impossibly beautiful shots, for example the tree in the sunset. The only criticism I have is that the three old guys in the bar didn't age much throughout the 30-40 years, but the point of their existence was the humor, which was on point. Overall, this is among the best movies of all time.

It is actually a book that was once taught to children in schools in America. To help you understand disabled people better, in short; It will help you become a little more human. The movie features magnificent shots and sets, in which Tom Hanks once again shows off his acting skills. Undisputedly one of the best

The film's technical brilliance and sentimental kick seduced many viewers unsuspecting of its polemical intent.
It's most successful when it is being off-center, a state of grace it doesn't quite have the nerve to maintain. [6 July 1994, Calendar, p. F-1]
It is also glib, shallow, and monotonous, a movie that spends so much time sanctifying its hero that, despite his "innocence," he ends up seeming about as vulnerable as Superman.
Forrest Gump is my favorite movie of all time because of history, presidents, story, humour and tom hanks.

you can tell that the film is targeting the big box office but this doesn't detract from the magic. Forrest Gump is so lovable that one moves through the whole film to watch his life path and sometimes has to smile. but the film also aims at more serious tones like the vietnam war and death in general.

A thought crossed my mind many years after viewing this picture: Forrest Gump cannot succeed as a sentimental message picture, because it's message is irresponsible. It is a message of ignorance through bliss, the idea that life would be inherently easier without our pesky brains and ideas. Hanks plays his role as best he could, but the film mistakes a remarkably sad existence for a happy one.

After watching this movie, I am convinced that Tom Hanks’ favorite color is mediocre. No human being gets that lucky for being stupid.
