Young Perla Haney-Jardine gives a stand out performance in this small but very good indie drama. Amy Madigan and Lili Taylor are both great also, especially Madigan who plays a both likeable and unlikeable Grandmother. B+

A lovely story about a young girl who deals with her domestic troubles by taking an overenthusiastic interest in the environment. It's great all around, the plot develops slowly letting you absorb all that is going on and doesn't at any point seem tacky or unreal. The only critique I'd have about it, is the title. The title makes it seem like it's a documentary movie when honestly it has very little to do with the subject of Global Warming or weather, the story is mainly focuses on the characters and their situation. To sum up, a really good movie which I'd recommend to anybody who likes low-budget indie movies which have real substance. Expand

    [A] tiny, beautifully acted movie.

The movie works best as a calling card for young Haney-Jardine, whom we can surely expect to see more of on the festival circuit.

The film is most successful as a character study of a stubborn, prickly girl whose intelligence far outweighs her immediate prospects.
