  1. A handsome and fully imagined work of cautionary futuristic fiction.
  2. 89
Niccol's futuristic fable is a gorgeous construct, from its cast on down to the brilliant, clinical nature of the set design that reflects a future in which even a particle of saliva can be one's undoing.
  3. 88
This is one of the smartest and most provocative of science fiction films, a thriller with ideas.
  4. 88
The average thriller, even if it's set in a faraway or futuristic world, tends to offer visceral, ephemeral excitement, and not much else. However, while Gattaca has the energy and tautness to compare with the best of those, its thought-provoking script and thematic richness elevate it to the next level.

  1. This can easily be our future. I like those science fiction/dystopian movies which show how technology can affect our future in a realistic way. Jude Law's most subtle acting yet. Ethan Hawk was also good. Very emotional and realistic. The low budget did not hurt the movie at all in my opinion. Recommended! Full Review »

I can't believe how under-appreciated this brilliant work of art is.

This movie was excellent, portrayed an important message perfectly, and had a unique biopunk art style in a leauge of its own. If we could have more of original titles like this, in stead of cookie cutter blockbuster and endless disney sequels, movies would be far better than they are today. Full Review »
