Breaking the cardinal rules of spin the bottle, Charlie refused to lip-lock with a demented goth girl--and she put a hex on him. Now, 25 years later, Charlie is a successful dentist...and still cursed. While his plastic-surgeon best friend, Stu, pursues as many of his patients as possible, Charlie can't seem to find the right girl. Even worse, he discovers at an ex-girlfriend's wedding that every woman he's ever slept with has found true love--with the next guy after him. Before he knows it, Charlie's reputation as a "good luck charm" has women--from sexy strangers to his overweight receptionist--lining up for a quickie. A life filled with all sex and no love has Charlie lonelier than ever--that is, until he meets Cam. An accident-prone penguin specialist, Cam is as hard-to-get as she is beautiful. But when a genuine romance develops, Charlie realizes he's got to find a way to break his good-luck curse...before the girl of his dreams winds up with the next guy she meets. (Lionsgate) Expand

At least Jessica Alba's legion of fans will have something to smile about. If nothing else, Helfrich has shown her in the best light. If only there was something worth seeing here other than her.

Though he’s known for his mildly edgy standup, someone in authority has decided Cook would be well-suited for fluffy romantic comedies, but like last fall’s Employee of the Month, Good Luck Chuck is so undistinguished that it feels like an extended screen test.

If "Wedding Crashers" is in your top ten rom-coms ever, you might not hate this. Otherwise, it’s too gross to be sweet and too sweet to be gross.

There's an audience out there for this kind of thing--Cook is obviously a populist, and Norbit made bushels of money--but if this is what passes for funny, what in the world of comedy DOESN'T qualify?
  5. Good Luck Chuck is this year’s low-ender to beat.

This is less an affront to women than it is to comedy.
  7. It was like a Farrelly brothers gross-out without the laughs.

Try as they might, there's no convincing performance of any on-screen chemistry between the two leads. So once you get past that and just enjoy the movie for the oversexed sidekick and slapstick humor (a la Superbad), it's not that bad of a "romantic" comedy. Despite the cheesy overdone and predictable "romantic comedy" themes, I found myself (and everybody else in the theater) laughing throughout the movie. Dane Cook is at his best when he's obviously improvising his lines. The movie lives up to its R rating with the colorful language and many bare breasts (and Cook's butt). Expand

Dane Cook is a funny guy, meet him a few times bouncing at comedy clubs. How he keeps finding his way into these terrible movies that aren't funny bogles my mind. My advice is that you go see him perform stand-up, if you want to see Mr. Cook at his laugh yourself stupid best. Expand

I saw this at a pre-screening and I love Dane Cook! But this is a soggy, stupid "romantic comedy" that completely misuses its talents. Why would anyone be involved in this pile of tripe is anyone's guess? It is not funny, and worse, not sexy. Much worse than any straight to DVD I've seen in a while! Expand

What about the scenes where a person was talking and half their face was cut off by the extreme closeups? If this movie was well done or funny at all, "Dragon Wars" deserves to sweep the Academy Awards. This movie is an affront to comedy, and each ticket sold only perpetuates American culture as the lazy, unintelligent clusterf.ck of repetitive motion that it has become. Expand
